Top Ten SEC coaches of all time

I'm not going to research, so this is off the top of my head.
(Frank Broyles and Emory Bellard and Dan Devine cannot be considered, and as much as I hate to admit it, Johnny Vaught would knock out Frank anyway. This is why my father taught me to hate Ole Miss from the womb - like literally whispering it to me through the womb)
1. Bear Bryant
2. Bob Neyland
3. Frank Thomas
4. Wally Butts - I think his influence merits this rank
5. Steve Spurrier
6. Johnny Vaught
7. Vince Dooley
8. Nick Saban
9. Urban Meyer - I hate it, but yeah
10. Wallace Wade
okay I did like 4 minutes of research
Shug Jordan? Nah

All of Spurrier's SEC titles weren't shared. OBC > Neyland.

Vince Dooley over Nick Saban? Don't ever do anything off the top of your head. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Listen, I love Dooley but putting him over Saban is insane. Saban is top 3 easily.

This is a really shitty list. I'm a fan of Frank Thomas but there is no way he should be as high as he is.
And Wally Butts, Johnny Vaught, and Vince Dooley over Saban? You're smoking grass.

You should save room for Gus Malzahn. It's only a matter of time.

The top 5 should be nothing but Bama coaches ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconspank.gif)

Make this into a slide show and send it to Bleacher Report. This is BR level work that you have done here my friend. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

If you're listing the best coaches of all time who coached in the SEC, this list is weak IMO.
If you're listing the coaches who were more successful IN THE SEC, then you would count winning the SEC as the highest achievement. In that scenario, I could see Saban further down and Spurrier should be around 2nd or 3rd.

Hootie. How many coaches managed to run two different SEC programs into the ground? That's influence.
ETA: I do want to add, just for the record, that Arkansas fans have a bizarre hate-on for a coach that gave them some considerable success in his time even if he sort of flamed out toward the end. Seriously, y'all, he did your program some real favors.

7. Vince Dooley
8. Nick Saban
Dooley above Saban?
No. I'm not sure Dooley even belongs on this list.
