I am planning to visit Miss. State and either UGA or Ole Miss this year. Can any State fans give me the run down on anything to do? Also any good places to find tickets?

Restaurant Tyler is great, as is The Veranda. The Veranda has a great blue plate lunch on Sundays and their bloody marys are top notch.

Scalping has never been much of a challenge in Starkvegas. Then again, y'all are the biggest home game for them in 2014.

Why on earth would anyone want to voluntarily go to Starkvegas?

Their McDonald's is top notch. Also check out the Family Dollar.

It is the most appropriately named city in America.
Lol, yeah. Walk up to someone and ask.

Stub-hub. Literally use it for every sporting event I go to that is not at State.

We've sold out every home game in the past 5 years, this will be the first big game post-expansion, tickets won't be that easy to come by.

Dude, do yourself a major favor and just go to Athens and Oxford.
Starkville is the armpit of the south...
Trust me on this..

For bar scenes go to the cotton district or downtown on game weekends. They're plenary bars and late night parties.
Food recommendations are restaurant Tyler, Umi Japanese hibachi, veranda, little dooeys, mugshots, obys

I don't understand how going to the State game would stop him from going to either of these places also...

With all the Ole Miss fans in here you would think he asked a question about Oxford...
Weird...
Weird...

Cool Bars (that may or may not be packed, depending on when you go):
Halfway House
Dave's Darkhorse Tavern
Zorba's
The Cotton District is awesome (maybe a little fratty), but it's guaranteed to be packed on big SEC weekends.
For food, as has been mentioned, The Veranda and Restaurant Tyler have you covered for the "nice" places. Cappe's has a mean steak too, though. There's several places around town for a good blue plate lunch, but Cappe's actually has the best one of those as well, in my opinion. For BBQ, the two main places are Petty's and The Little Dooey. Dooey's isn't bad, but a little overhyped and a little overpriced IMO, but it's "The BBQ Place" of Starkville. I really like Petty's sauce. For a third option, you could check out Three Little Pigs. They're almost never busy, and their BBQ and burgers are pretty decent. If you want some gat dang pizza, hit up CJ's or Dave's Darkhorse. You can get hibachi anywhere, but our place - Umi's - is pretty good if that's what you're feeling.

Are you just going to be there for the game? I can't really give you reviews on some of the newer places, but City Bagel for breakfast is good. Restaurant Tyler was good for dinner last time I tried it.

Always talked about a good bar, with good reason, but people sleep on their food. The calzones are fricking awesome.
