All this abortion talk reminds me of a hilarious David Cross joke.

I chuckled. I usually stay out of any abortion talk because I tend to not be able to remove morality from the discussion and I don't believe on pushing morals on others. But mizz_cou and stonehog are absent so I figured it could stay civil.

Just pointing out one of the contributing factors to the writing of the ACA.

I don't think what you listed was contributing factors. I think it was solely to put more people on dependency and to secure political power for the future.

Personally, I think the government should just provide every citizen with catastrophic, universal coverage, and let the insurance companies provide supplemental insurance for preventative care, dental, vision, minor emergencies, etc

I think Communism is a bad idea and has been proven over and over again, to be a failed form of Gov't.

But they don't reverse what has already happened. Abstinence is choosing not to drive at all after drinking too much Condoms and preventative BC are choosing a DD that you hope is a better option than you driving but still may fail you Plan B and abortion are getting pulled over for the DUI and asking for a mulligan.

I think Plan B is more like driving drunk but getting home safely.

I think the needed part was more about insurance companies selling these bare bones plans.

This is a talking point. Obamacare doesn't keep insurance companies from offering high-deductible plans. And each state has a laundry list of things that have to be covered by any health insurance plan. You couldn't buy a plan that didn't cover cancer coverage or anything like that.

We really have a spending problem in our country that shows up as a healthcare problem because people are living paycheck to paycheck. So that if they're sick and out of work for 2 weeks they're already in financial difficulty.

Understand the sentiment, but you're reversing the course of something that has been done.

I do too, but what I posted had nothing to do with Communism. The health care would still be provided by the private sector. The payment for that care would just be coordinated through the private sector insurance industry and the government. The government only gets involved in catastrophic cases(cancer, major illnesses, long-term hospitalization, etc.)

Those statements are contradictory. If the Gov't is involved, it leans more towards communism/socialism than not. To each according to his needs...

Nuh uh. Just because you disagree with me on everything doesn't mean that I need therapy.

Opposite. You are unable to see or respect anyone else's views and you get personally critical when you post an opposing stance. That was my nice way of saying it. Keep to the lowbrow humor, that's your strong suit.

I see, and even understand, the views of others. If people get offended by a stranger on the internet, they're the ones with issues.

It's just the internet after all.

The opposition to birth control is stone age nonsense IMO, but the fact that apparently millions of Americans lack basic comprehension skills is far more aggravating.

A private company not paying for your birth control is not the same thing as the company or the government telling you what you can and cant do with your reproductive capacity. If I see one more "stay out of my pants" come across my FB feed I'm going to be thrown in jail.
