I am a grown man, not a child. I don't wear sports jerseys

Side note to all the jersey haters. I got laid while wearing my Willie McGee jersey.
Did you see him again?

It strikes me as odd that any grown man would idolize another man.
Why are you making it about idolization? Why cant it just be about school pride, especially since most college fan jerseys have no name on the back?

I have great respect and admiration for many athletes I can't conceive of any reason I would ever want to put on their jersey.
So this is really about you thinking that your way is the only way, huh?

First, it's impossible for a grown man not to look like a tool wearing a jersey. It just is. The only possible exception to this rule is if it's your son playing and...nope, you still look like a tool. Second, lots of you are wearing a teenager's jersey. You were over 21 when this child was born. Isn't that a little bit humiliating? You could have fathered this child and now a generation later you're wearing his jersey?
There are two gameday outfits that no man can screw up:
a. coach's polo with either jeans or khakis.
b. school polo with either jeans or khakis.
(No, Florida fans, this does not include jean shorts. If you wear jeans, that means pants.)
Right now every single woman reading this piece -- there are at least two -- is nodding her head. Don't overcomplicate this, just wear a. or b. (Note: shorts are fine. It's really, really hot everywhere.)
This isn't about Beta Male. Notice the inference to what a women would think.
and now you are quoting Clay Travis as gospel. I'm done here.

I'm not a jersey wearer. But the pretentious assholes that presume to dictate their version of "cool" to us benighted Philistines makes me want to go out and buy some.

I already stated in another post in all honesty I was only jabbing some of the jersey wearing guys. I do find it odd. I don't really care if someone chooses to wear one.
Not gospel but he(Travis) is usually culturally spot on…like it or not. Hence the high relevance of his site for a small time blogger.

I own four jerseys.
Larry Bird home
Paul Pierce away
Eli Manning home
David Ortiz home
Wear them all.
Seriously, it's hilarious every time.

A Matt Jones Jacksonville jersey would be really cool. I loved when he did the horns down running in to the endzone.

Lots of good responses and guys that get it, also lots of dickwads that don't get the irony in having an issue with a jersey but don't understand that these message boards are a manifestation of a greater obsession and denial of reality than if you buy a jersey or not.

I have several jerseys. Many I wore when I was young but now they are just waiting in my closet to get framed for a future man cave. As far as Bama players, I have a Rolando McClain jersey, Mark Ingram championship patch jersey and a TJ Yeldon championship patch jersey. The patch jerseys have been put in shadow boxes along with other memorabilia I collected over the season and around the time of the game during my time as a band member at UA.
I own each of these NBA jerseys. The basketball jerseys became cool again when I was a freshman in high school. I love the GOAT players from the past and the retro jerseys. I certainly don't wear these anymore, they are more a part of my sports collection now.
