Yeah...that's why Bama tried to hire our OL coach STUPIDFACE!

quote:LSU has a long way to go to catch Auburn in terms of a starting offensive line unit. Auburn was the best in the league last year, by far. We also return 4/5 linemen and replace Greg Robinson with a 5 star that would have already been starting had he not been behind the #2 overall draft pick.
coupled with LSU returning 4/5 gives us the edge

But AU has to replace their starting LT. We replace a RG which is a much easier position to replace.
Does not compute to Barners! They will kill us, don't you know they won the SEC last year

AU has a complex misdirection scheme that gives the OL an appearance of being great.
Robinson was a great LT, though.

Obvious homerism is obvious.

We return 9 of 10 from the 2 deep and 4 starters.

Scheme hides weaknesses and improves averageness.
It's like Wazzu's and TTech's air raid offense. They run those offenses to overcome a lack of overall talent.

Yeah, because there is no talent on the Auburn OL? Gus and Grimes have done wonders with a bunch of 1 & 2 star linemen! Scheme is everything!

It's just luck.

AUs new LT destroyed cancer...he will have no issue with some DE.

Considering Texas A&M is O-Line U, I'd go with the Aggies

O-line has been pretty average at best during the Spurrier era, but this should be our best by far. Return 4 of 5 I think, and we've recruited the area hard recently, so there shouldn't be much of a drop off at that 5th spot. They are a massive, excellent run blocking unit. Pass blocking has been average, but I think Shaw getting out of the pocket has had a bit to do with that. We should be a little more efficient with a pure passer like Thompson. He really does a nice job of dropping back quickly and getting the ball out.

Agreed about your O being pretty average at best during the Spurrier era

While his statement was overly simplistic, the fact is that Auburn's scheme is very OL friendly.

AU went from an offense that generated < 4,000 total yards in 2012 to one that generated > 7,000 yards in 2013.
Good gosh.. What changed?
