Yea, I gotcha. It's one of the reasons that, as much as I hate them, I'll always respect SC: they'll schedule anyone and everyone and have no fear. Unlike, say, Penn State or (especially) Michigan or Ohio State or to a lesser degree some of the SEC schools, they like to take their show on the road. They're the cockiest MFers on the planet and think they're God's gift to football, but when they are good, they are a sight to behold. It was just brutal playing them from 02 to about 06.

The rumor is they want UGA.
If they want the class of the SEC then it's a wise choice.

Frankly I think if UGA played and Lost, Richt would have to finally pack.

What patch is that in your avi?
ETA - NVM looked it up. That's the patch we wore at AIT at Fort Rucker. Thought it looked familiar.

Badass.
Yeah I looked up the history of that patch at one point while I was at Rucker. Very cool.
Thanks for your service.

They want to play an upper tier team and hope their boys can rise to the occasion to keep it respectable then use that close loss as an inroad to recruiting the south east.
Exactly. The reason ND is so dead set on playing UGA is they think that it will give them an in to Georgia HS talent. With ND's new tie in with the ACC, they will have their inroads in Florida, so no need to play the Gators.
The states of Mississippi and Alabama don't produce enough talent for ND to focus there, so that would pretty much leave out Ole Miss, MSU, Auburn and Bama (unless they play in Atlanta for the Georgia exposure).
I could also see them trying to schedule something with aTm to get inroads in Texas.

We do alright in the South already. It may be that, but we have had some nice players out of Georgia in recent years (Stephon Tuitt and T.J. Jones, to name two). We've done well in Florida over the years and especially recently. We got Greg Jones and Tarean Folston last year. Just had Louis Nix get drafted. Zeke Motta. A bunch of others. When Meyer was at UF, we went head-to-head against them a ton. We won some (Sam Young, Louis Nix) and lost some (Xavier Nixon, Justin Trattou, Omar Hunter, David Nelson)
I think 9 or 10 of our starting 22 on the 2012 team were from SEC states.
Also, with Texas, we have been trying to get a foothold in there for a little while now. We played neutral site games against Washington State (San Antonio in 2010) and Arizona State (Jerry World last year), and we have a four game series with UT starting next year. Some of the best players that have ever played at our school were from Texas...starting with Tim Brown.

FWIW, the Irish probably only recognize this MSU.

When ND said they wanted to schedule an SEC team, they pretty much meant GT.
They are a little behind and want to renew their rivalry with the Yellow Jackets.
