Yeah great, so Notre Dame is going to begin scheduling MSU and Kentucky and bragging about all the wins over SEC schools they have.

Notre Dame is scared of playing a lower mid tier SEC team. Chances are they would be in a battle until the end. They want to play an upper tier team and hope their boys can rise to the occasion to keep it respectable then use that close loss as an inroad to recruiting the south east. I am sure they would prefer to play a team like Georgia, LSU, or Florida. Those states have large recruiting areas where the fence is down for recruiting. When they said SEC they really meant about 3-5 teams. The three mentioned plus the 2 in Alabama if they could meet them in Atlanta.
what I figured with the exceptions:
A) include TAMU, because of recruiting
B) ND does not want neutral site games because of recruiting (SEC seems to prefer neutral site games currently)

Maybe when when they called they said "MSU is on the phone" and the ND AD replied "we just now got Mich St off the schedule, I don't want them on it again"

I've heard for several years that USC has tried to schedule with Notre Dame, but they're not interested.

When Notre Dame says they want to play an SEC opponent, they really mean they want to play UT again.

Traditional big name program without a traditionally successful team.

If they scheduled someone without the pedigree of the Big 6 and lost, it'd be an embarrassment. If they scheduled a team that was actually in the top 6 of the conference, they'd receive an arse whopping that'd be equally embarrassing.

Therefore this whole charade about wanting to play an SEC opponent is really just Notre Dame trying to schedule another series with UT. Only team that fits their criteria right now

An't gonna happen. UK already plays an ACC school. Don't want two on the sked.

Tennessee should stop embarrassing the SEC by scheduling good teams from other conferences until they get their shite together. Just look at their record for the last six years against good teams.
2008 UT vs Ucla Lost 27-24
2009 UT vs Ucla Lost 19-15
2010 UT vs Oregon Lost 48-13
2011 No big game
2012 No big game
2013 UT vs Oregon Lost 59-14
2014 UT vs Oklahoma ………..

You mean the team that kicked your rear ends? That choke artist?

The rumor is they want UGA.

According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com, Notre Dame and Georgia are in discussions to play a home-and-home series. The series would likely take place in 2018 and 2019.

State has actually contacted them and Notre Dame said no.

When ND says they want an SEC game, they are not thinking Mississippi State.

The secretary actually handled the situation perfectly.. By that I mean she rolled her eyes said "Let me connect you to his voicemail "

A logical, well-conceived post on tRant. The sky if falling.

Basically, Notre Dame came out beating their chest about wanting to compete with the SEC -- and we called their bluff. We don't worry about recruiting inroads into Mississippi from a northeast team. Lately, even Bama and LSU have had a hard enough time penetrating the border of MS -- and LSU is closer to over half the population of the state than MSU/OM are.

It's a win-win for us. They either say yes and we get a showcase with IMO the most overrated program in the country with no real expectations on us. Or they say no and we can show Slive where we tried to improve our schedule -- before locking down directional Alabama and Louisiana teams for the next 10 years...

Are you actually trying to compare the UGA and msu football programs?

Good post.

Problem is -- I don't see UT fitting that criteria by the time the game could actually be played. Hell, it's taken what virtually amounts to a work of art in ineptitude to keep them down this long...

This shite is fricking hysterical. Don't schedule big teams and there's laughter because of shitty teams, call a shite team with recognition from 50 years ago and "they should have fired the secretary"

Make up y'all's goddamn minds.

When ND said they wanted to schedule an SEC team, they pretty much meant UGA. They want exposure in the GA recruiting base.

Personally I hope we finalize a deal with them and then kick their teeth in in Athens.

You're right. Maybe they should schedule Rice and SMU.
