There is pretty big contingent that really want the redskins name changed. It's probably the biggest issue in sports.

I think we should go back to the late 50s. When women and minorities knew their place.

None that I know. My grandmother was full blooded Native American and she was a huge Redskins fan. So were all of her siblings.

Never said it did. I've yet to meet a Native American in real life that was offended by the name though. There are plenty that are 'Skins fans.

The biggest racists in the Redskins controversy are the white people who are telling other people what they should be offended by.

White people are almost always the loudest when screaming racism and telling others when they should be offended.

I'm offended by that. You all should be offended with me.

Even as a Redskins fan, I would have a lot more sympathy for this campaign if it was a grass roots campaign among Native Americans. That's not what it is though. The most recent polls show that only like 10% or less of Native Americans are actually offended, and around 70% actually support the name, iirc.

I'm a lifelong 'Skins fan so, admittedly, I'm biased. It's really hard to take a bunch of white people screaming about racism over an NFL franchise name seriously though.

In my opinion even if it's only 10% of Native Americans that are offended, that's 10% too many when a name change to an animal or something would be rather simple. It just seems like the polite thing to do. If you're against it for branding reasons or tradition, that's valid, but at the very least don't try to not be dismissive of the feelings of those people.

Oh, jeez.

There's a high school in Arizona, I think. Their entire student body is made up of Native Americans. Their mascot is the Redskins. You know who chose the name? The students.

I've actually been wearing a Skins t-shirt before and had some hipster ask me if I felt bad about the suffering of Native Americans. Things like that make it hard not to laugh at this stuff.

I would have asked him if he felt bad about being a whiny little bitch.
