Let me interpret this - A&M is content with losing to UT 76 times and is willing to let that record stand, rather than taking the risk of playing the game with a chance at losing and having the public perception that UT is the superior program reinforced.

Let me interpret what you just said: "I'm a butthurt pussy"

Maybe Texas is a little slow to the news, but A&M announced there was no reason to play each other months ago.

More BS that ignores reality. Translation: Texas Scared

One compelling reason for Texas would be to not look like scared bitches.

A second compelling business reason would be to challenge A&M stem the tide of A&Ms dominance in recruiting.

A third compelling business reason is $$$.

A fourth compelling business reason is traditional rivalry.

But it's cool. A&M is fine not playing the game. We have a strong rivalry game at Thanksgoving. Just remember who refused to play the game at first.

Two things.
There's a lot of hot air in Texas.
If only Colt hadn't......

So basically this rivalry is dead unless there's big money to be made... Sad.

"I think the reality for us is A&M made a choice they felt was best for them to move to the SEC. That's great for them. They've leverage that well...For us there has to be a real business or branding case made to play anybody that we play with our football games given the way our schedule is structured playing Oklahoma every year in Dallas...Unless there really is a compelling business or branding reason, I see a hard time renewing that rivalry in football," Patterson told Paul Finebaum on ESPN Radio.

soooooooo what your saying is, UT is a whore and has to be paid to play one of the greatest rivalries in college sports.

The tears are so delicious when this comes up. They started the game on the Alabama side of the field...managed a field goal. Recovered an onside kick...managed another field goal. That was BEFORE Colt McCoy became a gaping vagina after the Darius hit.

This crap reminds me of why LSU dropped Tulane as a rival game. I bet the Tulane fans regret the assholes who pulled that school out of the SEC. Georgia Tech left the SEC before Tulane. Tech landed its arse in a basketball conference, which is way better than what Tulane landed in. Tulane, while in the SEC had the conferences largest stadium. Take a look where that program is now. I think that Tulane. leaving the SEC, is a doomed athletic program. Conference USA is a joke. If the conferences decide to add more schools, Tulane better hope that the Big 12 invites them so that conference can get a foot in La.

I don't understand why the Big 12 hasn't already done this. Tulane is an obvious expansion choice to me.

How epic would it be if the next meeting of A&M vs Texas was in the Sugar/cotton bowl in the College Football Playoffs in a couple years?

I could be wrong, but I thought Dareus knocked Colt out on the 5th play of the game or something. Regardless, I feel like both teams want to play each other other than the issue of pride. It's a storied tradition. I could never imagine UGA not playing Auburn or Tech or even South Carolina and Clemson not playing at the end of every year. As a college football fan I want the series to continue because it will be better for the game with both teams potentially being great in a couple of years.
