I don't necessarily buy this for 1%ers, cause plenty of them aren't a part of the 400 richest families and have busted their asses and done everything on their own steam and from their own risks, but the majority of the top 10%, of the 1%, can eat a fat one...

It turns out that increasing numbers of Americans in the 1%, .1% and .01% have done little to "earn" their wealth or privilege.

So passing your hard-earned wealth to your children is now bad? What?

I believe you need to make about $390k per year to be in the top 1% of wage earners. Go find someone in your town who makes $390k a year and follow them around for a few weeks (let them know first). And then see if you'd like to try to emulate their work habits.

What a couple of pussies. Jealous of the rich? Don't like that you weren't born into a family of wealth? Eh, get the frick over it. No family stays wealthy forever, eventually some kids blow it all and the distribution of wealth spreads. Then somebody works their arse of, makes a fortune, and leaves it to their kids for the cycle to continue.

Life isn't fair bitch. I suggest you DWI.

Extremely hard to make something out of nothing. All the rich or semi-rich people I know got a big help from their families. All of them. Yes it's possible to make something out of nothing but it's rare.

I hate the income inequality arguments, especially ones against Capitalism.

Capitalism gives everyone an opportunity to become rich. There will be inequality, because some people are simply more talented/more motivated than others. But in this system, those who deserve to be on top are on top. It also allows for a strong middle class of hard working people.

In the history of the world there has never been income equality. Inequality exists naturally because nobody is born equal...we do not have equal intellect, physical capabilities, etc.

People who support Socialism tout income inequality as a problem..fact is that under Socialism there is still inequality. It just doesn't allow the common man to become in the top bracket of income..it makes everyone poor/low middle class and leaves Gov't officials, bureaucrats, and crony corporate businessmen rich with absolutely no opportunity for a regular person to reach the top due to policy that holds them down while protecting the elite rich class. This ideology is formed out of a combination of idiots with a victim mentality who are jealous of the rich that think through Socialism they can advance themselves up the social ladder rather than work themselves up it, and a combination of rich politicians and crony capitalists who look to exploit this in order to protect their own interests and power.

The ever increasing amount of crony capitalism and socialism is killing The American Dream in this country. We need a smaller more regulated Gov't and less regulations and corporate protectionism in the free market. Only then will you see the income inequality gap shrink. There is a reason that income inequality gap has actually increased under the Obama administration. Their policy and talking points are a huge lie and a scam. Unfortunately, a majority of people don't see it, or don't get it.

Let me guess, you think they should give some of their money - in some cases hard earned - to those who don't have as much or those who sit on their asses and live off of those who bust theirs? In other words, you live with your hand out? Did you type that up on your obama phone?

So you should hate the people who pay the majority of taxes and keep the U.S. working? These people are the reason many have jobs and others are able to buy groceries with food stamps that were paid for through taxes.

100% of my clients have a net worth of over $5mm -most have a net worth of over $50mm. The majority of them were not born into wealth. Most started businesses that they worked tirelessly to build. The fact is that a lot of the 1% are just focused to the point where they are borderline nuts and most sleep less than 6hrs per night.

It should be embarrassing for anyone to say they thought there was much merit to that PoS opinion piece.

I'm not a materialistic person, but have never understood the overwhelming envy of rich people by a few in this country.

Yeah, it's the culture of the rich that are the real problem. People who tend to be hard working and law abiding citizens. Can't be the poor, who are largely uneducated, from broken families, and more violent. Whose going to break into your house and shoot up your family? Steve Jobs' kids, or is it going to be Crackhead Bob and his kids?

Well, I didn't read the article, and I can't tell who is trolling who in this thread so I'll just leave my thoughts on income inequality here.

Most seem to miss the point, and label those that want to fight income inequality as jealous of the rich. For me, that couldn't be further from the case. I enjoy having money, but it doesn't motivate me. I live a comfortable life with my middle class wages. I grew p relatively poor(not really there were just 5 kids in my family and the dollar was stretched) The problem is the rate of income growth for the wealthy has far outpaced the rate of growth for the poor and middle class. You'd expect that for the poor, but it is alarming when compared to the middle class. The middle class is being squeezed by both ends, and that's not a good thing.
