Who was it that missed 10 FG's against LSU a few years ago? Vaughn? That would count as a "suck" in my book.
John Vaughn. He was a damn good kicker on any other night. He was our all time leading scorer until Byrum passed him I think.

It's stupid how many great backs we have had.
!978 backfield was Joe Cribbs, James Brooks and WIlliam Andrews - all first-day NFL draft picks, all had lengthy pro careers.
Bo, Brent Fullwood, Lionel James and Tommie Agee were all on the '83 squad.
And of course Caddy, Ronnie Brown, and Brandon Jacobs played together in '02 and '03.

Lots of love for Lutz.
But no way he's in the Top 5 WR/TE in AU history.

While Tre was a very good back for us, you are confusing his skillset with Gus's offense putting him in awesome spots.
Tre Mason may be the most criminally underrated player on this board. He put up 1000 yards in a Scott LoLlfer offense on a 3-9 team with a weak Oline and no passing game. 1000 yards!

It's funny how young you guys are in this thread. And I'm not even that old from an Auburn perspective. Anyway, Cox doesn't belong anywhere near a top 5 QB list. I'd personally go Reggie Slack as 5th.
Fullwood should be second behind Bo for me as far as best Rb goes, but I can see the argument for Caddy from a overall stats perspective. James Brooks, Tucker Fredrickson, Joe Cribbs, Stephen Davis all belong on a top 5 RB list above Mason, Brown, and Tate. While Tre was a very good back for us, you are confusing his skillset with Gus's offense putting him in awesome spots. Bo, Fullwood, or Brooks would have put up Tecmo numbers in Gus's offense.
Karstan Bailey #1 over Beasley? Anyway Beasley is #1, I'd say Frank Sanders and Lawyer Tillman should be the next two, followed by maybe some combo of Taylor, Freddie Weygand, or Shayne Wasden.
I'd put Ed King and Willie Anderson over Simmons or Gandy on the OL list, but we've had a ton of good OL over the years so it's hard to quibble too much on top 5 lists there.
DL is another tough one. I'd put Doug Smith, Benji Roland, Ron Stallsworth, Ben Thomas, Gary Walker and Gerald Williams above Groves and Ford by a bit.
At LB Thomas really doesn't belong on there to me. Kurt Crain would be in my 5, he was a beast. Greg Carr probably as well. Quentin Riggins and Craig Ogletree being right behind.
At CB Calvin Jackson and Kevin Porter are two of the best we've had, I'd put both ahead of Irons/Powers/Lee. Corey Barlow was also 2 time All SEC for us back in the late 90s.
At safety I'd put Tommy Powell up near the top of the list. I'd probably put Brian Robinson on there as well.

You are dead on. And you are right about Kurt Crain- he was a hell of a linebacker.

Tre is a great back, but you guys are putting him above players that are simply better backs in terms of skill sets. I know most of you doing so are too young to have watched Fullwood or Brooks play, but both those guys were just better backs. Particularly Fullwood, if he wasn't behind Bo for the majority of his Auburn career he would have won a Heisman himself most likely. Fullwood has the highest ypc of any Auburn back in history, he was amazing.
For me Bo, Fullwood, Caddy, Brooks stand out from the crowd due to a combo of talent and production, then you have guys like Cribbs, Davis, and Mason you can make an argument for in the final spot. Mason isn't being underrated, we just have one of the top RB histories of any school in the country.
You can look here for stats help for those who don't really know about our older backs:

Under the radar but Ben Nowland was a consensus All SEC OC and started from his freshman year. Extremely rare to have both those distinctions. He is under the radar but an absolute stud. Got screwed In the NFL process
OL
1- Marxus McNeil
2- Wayne Gandy
3-Greg Robinson
4-Steve Wallace
5 Grubbs
Shoutout to Gatsjy for HOF in NFL
Also Kevin Greene is an all time great on defense should be #1 followed by Takeo
