There might already be a thread about this, but im going to start one anyway.
A kentucky beating a very good Wichita St. team
Tennessee blowing out Umass, and Mercer who beat Duke up and down the court the whole game.
Kansas and Ohio St. going to to mediocre teams.
I believe the SEC is stronger than what the media put it out to be. Anyone agree?

At the top yes not as a conference. We lost nearly all our good OOC games and the bubble teams all lost by double digits in the closing months or had losing records in that time. We didn't deserve having any more teams in the tournament given resumes

No, people (read: SEC fans) are just going ape shite because teams are doing well in the tourney.
Florida is a legit #1. UT had been exremely up and down all year and BARELY even made the tourney. But anytime you have 2 stud players like they do, you can play well and win a few games. Let's also keep in mind they've beaten a 6 and a 14 seed.
UK is UK, even if they are "down". They have elite talent that will likely all be on NBA rosters, and finished tied for 2nd in the SEC. Not surprised they are doing well. The team they tied for 2nd with lost in the 2nd round of the NIT.
In college basketball you have about 30 games to make a resume. From November to March the SEC did what it did..which is to say not a whole hell of a lot. The last week doesn't change that.

yes. but, with mizzou and Georgia's performance in the nit over the weekend, one would probably question it.

I think the SEC gets affected by a negative bias towards the conference that hurts the bubble teams. Yes UT, UK & UF are strong teams (head and shoulders above the rest of the conference), but teams like Dayton and Mercer that have won NCAAt games this year are on the same level as Arkansas, Mizzou, LSU & Ole Miss. But this happens every year. Lesser talented teams get in and win games.

Yes, but that doesn't mean it is strong. UT and UK were just underseeded.

It might just be me, but after all the praise they give us in footbal. It's like they feel the need to say we are not a basketball conference.

I know a lot of people didn't expect Tennessee and Kentucky to make the Sweet 16, and Florida is the best team in the country, but I wouldn't say we are underrated. In fact, we're still not a good conference. We only had 3 teams in the NCAA tournament, and the bottom teams in our conference are some of the worst in the entire country.

Possibly, but you are missing the forrest for all those darn trees!
The correct question is the conferences that are over rated!
Arizona got a #1 seed and the softest bracket
B1G got six, and probably should have gotten just 4
ACC got six, and probably deserved about 4
AAC got 2 and possibly could have gotten 1 more
SEC got 3, and possibly could have gotten 1 or 2 more
B12 got 7, and half was all they really needed
A10 and Big East are in transition, but both probably got more than they deserved.
The bigger issue is not who got in or who got left out, but that too many teams get in to start with. They should do a 32 team NCAA and a 32 team NIT - possibly double elimination like baseball - but it will never happen so we are stuck with boring blowouts and mid level games through the first weekend.

There definitely are. Due to the way the selection process is set up though, somebody has to be left out. It just happens to be the SEC in the current cycle.

It's not as horrible of a conference as it's made out to be, but it's certainly not great, either.

I will say this, if you go back and look at some of the losses in OOC by some of the SEC teams, they don't look as bad in hindsight. Bad losses simply means that I didn't see them in the tourney or NIT. Some are obviously worse than others.
