Starting DT Ivan Robinson appears to have suffered a career ending injury, and is expected to not play.

Another starting DT Isaiah Golden has withdrawn from the current semester, but is expected to be back for the fall. He either will be ready, or won't. But in many situations similar..the player doesn't show up in shape. .

Starting LB Claiborne (Lousianimal) is in limbo for the opener, as he waits for his penalties resulting from a second arrest

If Texas a&m's new QB struggles like Manziel did in his first SEC game, this could get real ugly. Especially with a depleted defense that already sucked

ANYWAY..what's the word on your team, Cocks?

Heavy dose of Mike Davis and the Cocks should win by 10 at least.

I expect us to win the game. I really expect us to win because it is at home.

We will miss Shaw, but should be okay at QB. Word is Thompson is looking good and he has played in his fair share of big games, and played well for the most part.

We lost a goodbit on the DL, but we were fairly deep there, plus we have a big JUCO DT that should help.

OL and running game should be great. We could arguably have the best OL in the SEC.

Im expecting big years out of Shaq Roland, Pharao Cooper, and Damiere Byrd at WR. Word is the WR's are excited about this season because Dylan gets passes off quick and doesn't run or hold passes like Shaw tended to do. (Not a flame on Shaw, he is the best QB SC has ever had) The wr's just get more looks when Thompson has played.

A&M has no chance to win this game. USCe by at least 4 touchdowns.

Without Maziel, Evans and Matthews and after watching that atrocious defense last year, I quit worrying about the game

Cocks should win by 21, but I bet it'll be more like 10 since we generally tend to let teams hang around in season openers

Damn, that sucks, sorry to hear that.

Why?

Do they have TeamVote?

Both teams are going to score points, I think this might be one of our highest scoring games of the season.

We're on an 18 game home winning streak, this game is at home. I feel really good. We sell out even on Thursday games, so the crowd will be live. That will make it harder on aTm.

We have 8 returning starters on offense and 19 of the 22 from the last 2 Deep. We have 6 returning starters on defense and 17 of 22 from the last 2 Deep. CB and DE will be issues, we'll have new guys there against a pass happy HUNH team.

The game plan defensively will probably include keeping the ball on offense. We have a massive, experienced OL and the best returning RB in the SEC, we'll grind the clock to keep their offense off the field.

Still too much time b/w now and then to predict scores, plus we don't know who will play or be suspended. I feel good though. I don't think Spurrier has ever lost an opening game.

This is the kind of game Spurrier wins. I hope we win, but I think South Carolina takes it.

It's an SEC east team. I'm not worried.

Looking forward to a great game and excited to play the Aggies for the 1st time (unfortunately it was a year too late).
Williams-Brice will be nuts and I think being at home wins it for us. Would not be confident at all if the game were in CS.

It'll be a tough test for our defense, especially Dline, but the backups last year got enough PT to be effective. LB corp is stacked and should be improved from last year.

Offense should be very good as we return 4/5 Oline and Mike Davis plus all but one WR. Shaw graduated of course but Thompson is capable to step in and get the W, just as he did many times when Shaw was injured the past 3 years.

South Carolina has started the season on Thursday nights 8 times since 2005 and are 8-0 in those games.

The the Cocks win but I also think there will be lots of points scored by both teams. SC Defense will be tested and our defense will be pushed beyond its limit against Davis.

Hate that it's a refrain from last year.

While USCe should be the clear favorite, I wouldn't count out A&M of any game with the offensive firepower we return.

Sure we are losing 3 first round guys on our O, but the OL is expected to stay on par as the last few years with Ced sliding over the LT (just like Jake did last year).

Mike is gone, but RSJ is healthy (#1 WR in the country 2 years ago, but blew his knee out after the first half of game one where he had 3 catches for 84 yards and a TD), Speedy is here (#1 WR last year), and that's just the tip of the iceberg for our WR talent. Without

Johnny's obvious the crazy play making is gone, but one of the young QBs will run the O more like Sumlin intended. More run game, more short passes, and taking what the D gives and not buying time so Mike can get open for a 30 yard gain.

On top of all that the D can't be worse, can it?

For the record, not expecting to win this game.

Glad we're starting the season off against a strong conference opponent, though. We'll see what we've got for USC and go from there.

More than anything, excited to start this series with Carolina. Always enjoyed watching them play, and now we get to line up against 'em year in and year out

Typically it's a low scoring game for us in the season opener but who knows. I don't know much about A&M's defense but I think our offense should score about 24-27 points. USC 27 A&M 17

Certainly the Cocks should have the edge as it stands for now but it all depends on how the questions are answered.

Will one of the 2 highly rated QB's from A&M be able to step in Game #1? Odds are no, but it won't be because of talent. Both Hill and Allen are very, very gifted players. One thing that will help is the A&M OL is looking like it will be every bit as good if not better than last season even without Matthews.

Will RSJ and Speedy be able to live up to the hype? Hard to bank on guys who are either Freshman or only played 1 game before being injured. Still, those 2 are truly elite WR talents that have ridiculous talents.

Will the A&M defense improve? This is the biggest question. The overall talent should be better but the key is going to be if they can plug up the run and manage to get a pass rush with Myles Garrett. Also, can the DB's actually cover anyone? A bigger concern than the QB issue honestly and by a good margin.

Will SC be able to not miss a beat without Shaw? This will be interesting. Shaw was such a heart and soul player for that team last year. It takes more than talent to replace him.

I don't think losing Clowney will really have much of an effect, Clowney seemed to be taking the year off last season anyway.

So USC should win but if A&M has good answers to those earlier questions then it could change things dramatically. Hard to rely on so much young talent though.
