Dont need the convention center with the Dome and Arena next door to each other. If one's hosting the Event, the other could be the Fan Fest, etc.

How large is the floor space there? Fan Fest took up a lot of space the two years I went to it (2008-09).

Nola can host every sporting event except the mighty SECCG.

Super Bowls are nothing in comparison. They've done fanfare at the brewery in the past too

Atlanta is clearly the best option for the SEC-CG football home. The scale of the event really needs the transport and facility infrastructure they have.

There's lots of places the basketball tourney can work. I think Nashville's a good idea that will be popular. Louisville would also be an incredible site as it's fairly central in location and the Yum! Center is easily the nicest college basketball stadium in the country right now.

The baseball championship in Birmingham has been a hugely popular event that sells out every annually and is also centrally located b/w the East & west teams. There is no logical reason to support that Memphis would be more successful as a site

Now you just sound ignorant.

Legitimate or at least understandable arguments

1. Tradition
2. NOLA has Sugar bowl and wouldnt want SEC champ (in off chance not in playoff) to repeat to same city
3. As an Aggie said-you live closer to ATL and you dont want to see it leave

City event hosting infastructure is an ignorant argument

Atlanta has hosted the peach bowl and some final fours

NOLA has hosted 5 Final fours, 10 super bowls, 12 New orleans bowls, 78 Sugar bowl games, 4 BCS national championships, and 2 of which were seperate from the sugar bowl and within a week of hosting.

They might struggle with the SEC championship though

Adam,

So you're going to have the SEC-CG and Sugar Bowl back to back within a few weeks in New Orleans? If there was an incentive for the SEC-CG loser (the most likely SEC representative in the Sugar Bowl most years)to skip the game, you've now doubled it.

From the fans perspective (and for travel issues to NOLA), it's much better to have the 2 games at different sites.

The back to back was an argument I presented in my post. Your reason was infrastructure. NOLA could easily handle having the events. They do it all the time.

Also the SEC CG loser hardly ever goes to the Sugar.

In all honesty I like Atlanta as the host site. They do a very good job with it. However your (along with many other Bama fans) argument that Atlanta is the only city that has the proximity and infrastructure to handle the event is dumb.

Breakdown of teams that would have gone to New Orleans twice if it hosted the SECCG
1992 Alabama
1993 Florida
1994 Florida
1996 Florida
2000 Florida
2001 LSU
2002 Georgia
2003 LSU
2004 Auburn
2005 Georgia *Would have happened if there was no Katrina
2007 LSU
2008 Alabama
2009 Florida
2011 LSU

Teams that went to Atlanta for SECCG and bowl game
1997 Auburn
2005 LSU and Georgia, but Georgia was only in Atlanta because of Katrina
2010 South Carolina

Your missing something, If the Sec decided to rotate the SECCG then the ACC would come to Atlanta the first opportunity . The SEC HQ is not going to let that happen.
No BILLION dollar state of the art stadium come 2017
No college football HOF that opens next Fall, not that may mean anything to some, but I think they are really going to market this , selling Atlanta as the home of college football.

New Orleans if a fine location, so is Nashville, St Louis, Houston, Orlando. They are all fine ...

But believe it or not Atlanta really is the only Neutral site , UGA, as much as I would like it to be, just doesn't hold a distinct advantage when it plays other southern teams in Atlanta, too many local transplants , to easy to get to Atlanta.

And the only fans that want it moved, us because they hope they would get an opportunity for the team to get that advantage.

The game in ATL is the only CCG that has been a financial win fall , why fix it , if it's not broke?

Atlanta - Football
Hoover- Baseball
Nashville - default Basketball for 10/12 years , and will probably become the permanent location.

I am ok with ATL for football esp since NOLA gets an SEC team in the Sugar Bowl, and Nashville is fine for basketball. The SEC really really needs to get the freak out of Hoover. Memphis would be an awesome place, Jacksonville, Tampa, heck even the new stadium in Birmingham would be better than the high school football stadium in Hoover.

FWIW, I don't have a problem with the football CG being in Atlanta, especially since the Sugar Bowl is in New Orleans. The only SEC championship I would truly like to see moved, or at least rotated, is baseball.

The puck green bathroom tiles are suppose to be gone next season. That might help NOLA's chances. Attendance would be better but all wildcat fans are busy throwing money at strippers that they aren't related too.

I know they're going to build a sizeable new entrance lobby, but I hadn't heard about the exterior changing. I would definitely support it.

Apparently this is happening, too:
