Did Pat Sullivan Get Screwed Out of the 1970 Heisman Trophy?

His stats were better than either Jim Plunkett or Archie Manning (Yes, Sullivan out-rushed Manning in 1970). So, why did he place 6th in the Heisman Voting that year.
Sullivan should have been the first back-to-back Heisman Trophy winner (1970 and 1971).

He was a Junior, they rarely gave it to an underclassman.

How many Heisman winning QBs win after losing their final game in a top 5 showdown by going 14/27 for 121 yards 0 Tds 2 INTs and their team loses 31-7? If voting took place like it did today he would not have won.

Yes Ingram would have won. He was the Heisman front runner going into the Iron Bowl (which is when the 1971 voting happened).

Or like calling all the Alabama radio stations and telling them not to vote in the AP poll until after the Iron Bowl so Auburn would win the AP title even though they were on a post season ban.

About as ofter as a Heisman winning RB wins it after having 5 games under 100 yards rushing and 30 yards against its biggest rival.

Sullivan had better stats in '70 but finished 6th, when a good argument can be made that he deserved to win...yet he wins his Senior year in '71 with less impressive stats than the year before...Greg Pruitt was a Junior in '71, rushed for 1700 yards, averaged something like 9 yards a carry, and finished 3rd...the next year as a Senior, Pruitt had 'bout half the yards and finished 2nd...
The Heisman seems to have been slanted more towards Seniors and overall careers back in the day...

Who could've guessed that Bama fans would be all in this thread talking about how Sullivan didn't deserve the Heisman?
