Who is the worst AD in the SEC?

I nominated Mike Alden from Mizzou.
He's been here for 16 years, and in that time period our 18 varsity sports have won a combined 5 conference championships. The only men's sport to win a conference championship since Mike Alden arrived is wrestling.
16 years x 18 sports = 288 seasons of sports
5 conference championships in 288 seasons.
He also hired Frank Haith.
Anyone worse?

He has also hired FOUR basketball coaches in 16 years.

Haith was such a bad hire, very puzzling.

Jay Jacobs has done a shite job...other than hiring Malzahn and keeping Cam eligible

Damn. I was going to say Jay Jacobs until you introduced me to Mike Alden. That sounds miserable (being a mizzou fan during his era)

I have to nominate UK AD Mitch Barnhart for two non-stellar hires:
1. Billy Gillispie, who nearly destroyed our basketball program;
2. Joker Phillips, who succeeded in destroying our football program.

Probably Jeff Long. He could have covered up the Petrino scandal like any other AD would. Instead he used the incident to make himself look good and then hired BB.

I don't think so. The Haith hire was universally criticized. Not only is he a really poor basketball coach, but the NCAA stuff was hanging over his head too.
He made only 1 tourney in 8 years at Miami. That is awful.

Jeff Long and probably Jay Jacobs a distant 2nd.

There was zero logic or basis to hiring him. His resume was terrible. He came with baggage. It was a major WTF decision.

I nominate turbo nerd, Scott Stricklin.

Kentucker, those were both good hires at the time--Not unlike our hiring of Franchione
.
Sometimes things just go horribly wrong.

Mike Hamilton was the worst. Now, I'm not sure who can claim the title of worst SEC AD.

Alden and Jay Jacobs are both very strong choices.

What i learned from the Gillispie hire is that Barnhart did little to no checking on Gillispie, must have just watched sportscenter.
He also messed up the ability to hire a good younger HC for football when Morriss left for Baylor. He tried to get Bill Parcells and spent too much time chasing him. Dumb, Parcells was never going to come here.
Then lastly, he really wasn't interested in Calipari, but wanted to look elsewhere.

He hadn't made the NCAA in like the past 4 years there, just some NITs. Could have done much better.
