I really havent been keeping up with anything regarding the SEC network. what is going to be its policy for conference games?
Posted on 5/14/14 at 1:09 pm to WestCoastAg
What exactly do you mean?
Posted on 5/14/14 at 1:29 pm to WestCoastAg
I think he's asking "priority of picks" by network.
Posted on 5/14/14 at 1:36 pm to tmc94
I guess I mean, that when it comes to our conference slate of games for football, where is the SEC network on the priority list
Posted on 5/14/14 at 1:41 pm to WestCoastAg
We now have 2 contracts, the CBS one and one with ESPN. CBS has first pick and then every single other game can be put wherever ESPN wants to put it among ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and SECN.

Article about what games the SECN owns. Appears the SEC has done a good job of retaining rights to all their televised games
LINK
Not sure what this means for A&M and Mizzou. However, I believe A&M owns all our tv rights for the SWC years. Just not sure on the Big 12 ones. Hopefully we do.
This should be interesting. I think the current site sucks. ESPN has taken over management of it so hopefully it will be better. I'm not a fan of their web design but at least it's normal.
Appears this will be the SEC "ESPN3" hub as well as the league website

The SEC managed to retain copyrights on games dating back to the 1960s when it signed 15-year deals with CBS and ESPN in 2008, SEC Network associate commissioner Charlie Hussey said Wednesday during an appearance on Head to Head Radio in Mississippi.

The SEC will also launch a re-tooled website July 1, which will be powered by ESPN.

I'm pretty sure I read that we signed over our rights to all of our Big 12 games as part of our exit negotiations.
ETA: I'll try to look tonight and see if I can find anything about it.

(As in maybe the gap in history would be nice)

Even though it would really suck to not have access to some of our classic Big 12 games the bulk of the games against SEC we played were from our SWC days. Those are probably the more likely games that would get aired or put up for streaming anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN was able to work out a deal for specific games like vs Texas in '99 or K-State in the Big12 title game though.

How could Texas show the 2011 game on a constant loop on their network if we own the rights to all our home games?
Posted on 5/24/14 at 5:00 pm to CGSC Lobotomy
I would imagine it would depend on what was negotiated in the exit settlement. I doubt the Big 12 would allow members leaving to take all media rights with them. It's part of the conference history and as part of the conference tv contract, both home and away schools would want it (ie whomever our opponents were)
My guess is even if we negotiated rights to them, they would be joint rights so that the Big 12 and A&M would each have re-air rights. Probably even more specific like OOC games go to A&M, conference games are split with each retaining re-air rights. IMO it would be a reasonable request and while there was a lot of acrimony in our exit, it was probably based on whatever was done for Nebraska since they went first.

CBS officially released a few tv scheduled games. Appears Ark/Miz is taking the old Ark/LSU time slot on Friday
LINK
Saw Golden Nugget posted this on tRant. Apparently these are CBS's narrowed choices by week. No idea where he got it from but it makes sense that ESPN asked them to do this so that thye can begin scheduling SECN games
CBS choices:
If you have been living in cave or some such, we play LSU on T-Day. CBS does not have a time slot then. We'll likely be on ESPN but it's possible that is on SECN as well.
The only conference games that have been ruled out for CBS is Arkansas.

Pretty good Q&A about the SEC Network from the ULSU perspective
This one caught my eye
This one caught my eye
quote:
Currently, each SEC school gets about $20 million per year in TV revenue, so it’s easy to see what a huge impact the network will have on SEC bottom lines. LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva has said he hopes revenue from the SEC Network will reduce or at least postpone the need for raising ticket prices.

Unfortunately, I could never imagine our AD saying something similar.
