Question about SEC Network

I'm just curious how many people would actually dump their cable provider if they didn't carry the SEC network right away? I am excited about the new network, but I am not sure if I would or not. I have uverse and am happy with it, so if they didn't offer the network I'm not sure that would be reason enough for me to leave a service I otherwise like. Though, I may have a tough decision soon because they are beginning to install Google fiber in my 'hood. Just curious what others think.

Uverse carries the SECN so part of your point is moot.
Obligatory:

As for the general premise of your post, my wife is putting the screws to me about dropping Direct because they won't carry it (as it presently stands). You know you've got a good one when your wife throws a fit over a cable company not carrying the SEC Network.

I know they will have it. That's why there might be a tough decision when google fiber is in my neighborhood.

I think a lot of networks ail pick it up once they realize how much more money they could be making

You can find anything online now days no reason to pay extra

Dang right I'll switch. I've got Comcast and I've kind of been looking for an excuss to dump them anyways. I really don't want to miss the A&M/USCe game on that 1st weekend, so now I have my excuss.

Disney (ABC) is seriously considering broadcasting its network on the inter-tubes. I would kill for a true high-speed connection at a reasonable price.... like the rest of the civilized world. if it's an either / or situation it would be tough as hell for me.
Sell a kidney and get both.

Every SEC fan besides Mizzou WILL make the switch if they don't provide the SEC network

might be tough to find SECN online...sounds like they are gonna lock it down pretty good.

Indeed. That's a good woman.

I'd be furious if DirecTV didn't cave and end up carrying it (I have very little doubt that they will); but I wouldn't drop 'em.
I've been a DirecTV customer for over a decade; and apart from the SEC Network hiccup, I've been extremely satisfied with their product.
IF it takes 'em a season or two to pick up the SECN (again, I don't think that'll be the case), I'll frequent a local watering hole to watch any Aggie games I'm unable to make in person.

direct tv hasn't caved on the pac 12 network yet, not looking like they will anytime soon

No I'd just stream or go to a bar to watch the games.

It'll all work out because next to the NFL, SEC football is king.
In fact, I just dumped Dish for DirectTV.
I got the internet, home phone and Ultimate TV for what I was for paying Dish alone. Once people start actually dumping, DirectTV will fall in line.
It sucks, but the way the cable game is played you have to use the hammer when your TV free agency comes and go for the best deal.

Is the video quality any good when you stream? I've never really had to do that (other than ESPN3, which is good). Are you interested in any of the other programming they may have? I'm kind of interested to see what kind of shows they will have. Also interested in being able to see more college baseball and softball games.

I don't know anything about the Pac12 network or DirecTV's decision not to carry it.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part; but I think they'll (DirecTV) hear much more discontent from their SEC-centric users than they will from their Pac12 fans. All I know is that Texas A&M University, the 12th Man Foundation, Aggie Athletics, etc. prompt us (students and Former Students) regularly to contact DirecTV about our feelings on the issue. I can't imagine that's not the case with the other SEC universities as well,
In the end, I have confidence that DirecTV is savvy enough to realize that not carrying the SECN will cost them more than will the alternative.

I just hope they don't cave on carrying the Shorthorn Network.

Entirely different story.
And even if they do, viewer ratings will tell that story very quickly.
Complete clusterfrick.

Nope. I've never understood how a fan can settle for a 240p stream of a game they care about.
