just looked at the "west camera" and there's ice cycles hanging off it.

Is "the Zone" changing at all?

Next offseason will be just as, if not more, ambitious. The entire west side is going to be demolished and rebuilt.
That's to put in the "Founder's Suites" and other premium seating, correct?

My understanding is that it he facade will be redone to match the rest of the stadium with red brick and the concourses will tie in at the corner ramp towers. I don't know what the plan is for the existing ramps at the zone.

Yeah. Those seats are in that side that's getting completely rebuilt. And possibly the exterior of the Zone. I think the Zone ramps are staying, just being covered up with a new facade. That might happen in year three though, I'm not sure.

You have it right.
The existing Zone ramps will not be coming down. They'll be clad in the same pre-formed "brick" facade panels and essentially hidden. The rest of the Zone stays the same. The first deck of the Zone will be connected to the stadium-spanning first deck concourse, but my understanding is that the other decks will be accessed via the existing Zone ramps and not the "activation towers." If someone has it different, please chime in.
As an aisde, the Zone's a weird duck in that there are a set of staircases that run the entire height in the very back of the structure but they're only used for exiting. They dump out right onto the Zone plaza, outside of the ticket gates.

That whole side is essentially becoming premium chairback seating and suites with various "clubs" depending on your level of premiumness instead of traditional concourses, except for the new "third" deck on that side, which will be benches and have a normal concourse.
EDIT to add that some of the Founder's Suites will be on the East (student) side that's being renovated/rebuilt now. If you look on the webcam at the new 1st Deck on that side, you'll notice that the new pitch creates a significant gap at the rear between the top of the new 1st Deck and the beginning of the Second, whereas prior to the reconstruction, the old 1st Deck extended under the 2nd Deck's overhang quite a ways. This space will house the Founder's Suites on that side of the stadium.

Another question: I'm not clear on whether the number of "Founder's Suites"...IIRC there will be 12 of those...is included in the new suite total of 114 suites Kyle Field is said to be having for the 2015 season?

I don't think we would through around the number 114 unless it was the max way you could count it.

They already have verbal commitments on many of the 114 suites now up for grabs.
While nine of the twelve Founders Suites are already spoken for.
The cheapest suites will be going for $150,000 a year while the 12 best of the best Founders Suites will lease for as high as $15 million for a 15 year agreement.
Artist renderings show the opulence of the new suites including lounges and incredible views.
All suites under $10 million will require an annual fee ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 and you'll still have to pay for individual seats.
12th Man Foundation President Skip Wagner says 80 percent of the suites costing between $1 million to $3 million also have verbal offers.
"The suite seats, the suite seating ranges from as few as 16 on the smaller sideline suites to as many as 28 in the Founders Club suites. And that doesn't count additional standing room only that can be purchased for the suites with anywhere from four to eight people," said Wagner.

I found the above on a Newspaper article. Sounds like the 12 Founder's suites are included in the 114 suites. There are also a bunch of the loge boxes throughout the stadium, usually at the corners.
Edit: The article is old. The suites are now sold-out.

Ok, thanks, I was thinking those twelve were in a separate category, and thus bumped the suites total up to 127 overall.

Do you guys have a figure for the total number of premium seating in the new Kyle? Just for reference, LSU's new SEZ expansion will add another 3,000 club type seats to the existing 3,200 club seats, and another 70 suites for 140 suites total.
Posted on 3/4/14 at 2:39 pm to TigersOfGeauxld
I don't know the average number of seats per loge box and/or suite. I think the founder's suites have room for 28.

Do you know how many seats there are total though? I remember reading that suites in the old Kyle sat less than the suites at Tiger Stadium, which all seat 23, although that includes SRO.
quote:
The new South End Tiger Den Suites will have a capacity of twenty-three people. There will be fifteen seats located in three rows outside the suite interior, four seats at a glass rail inside the suite and four standing room only tickets
The number of seating for Kyle suites has slipped my memory, and that website no longer gives that info.

Yes, I read that as well. Very impressive!

Dang. That's big.

Well as I said, it includes 4 SRO tickets. I'm betting a lot of schools don't bother counting that.

IIRC, the suites at the old Kyle were listed at 16 seats.
