Weak comeback. Like playing Ole Miss in Oxford type weak.

So many people misunderstand recruiting. It's about recruiting to your needs not seeking stars. It's becoming a cliche. There is another team in my state that seeks stars over needs and their priorities are in recruiting over development. Mizzou is doing a great job recruiting to their strengths. As long as you have a good qb you'll be fine. There are dozens of good players every year that are undervalued, unranked, or unknown to the recruiting services. Good coaches will find these guys. Unless you are a bama or an Lsu you have to recruit very wisely.

LOL, here we go again with the time honored "East was down cuz Florida and Georgia had injuries oh noes!" but yet when Mizzou is one of the most injury ravaged teams in the nation in 2012, you don't acknowledge it and instead say Mizzou was down that year b/c we can't compete with the East. You realize how retarded that sounds right? Even our losing season in 2012 with just as many important injuries as Florida had this year was still better than UF's 4-8 bullshite this year.
This is a Mizzou circle jerk recruiting thread, so if Pinkel's diamonds are so abundant, then injuries isn't an excuse because you would have depth.

Why didn't Georgia or Florida have the depth?
Posted on 2/11/14 at 10:13 am to JesusQuintana
Mizzou can't compete in the SEC. Wait, I meant...the East sucks!! Mizzou will never win the East again, because they can't compete in the SEC!!!

What was UF playing with, their fifth-string QB who won the punt, pass, and kick contest at the student union?

First, I will agree that Pinkel is an underrated coach. Underrated by your own fanbase even. His overall W-L record shows that out.
In regards to the 2013 season, Missouri's success was built on 3 things:
Veteran offense and QB, a very good front 4, especially rushing the passer, and a schedule that fell into place for them.
Missouri dodged LSU, Alabama, and Auburn from the SEC west, who were the 3 best teams in the west last year. Florida and Georgia were decimated by injuries. UK and UT were dumpster fires like normal. Vanderbilt and TAMU were the two best teams they beat until the bowl game. Consider that for a second....
So it was a historically good season for Missouri, and the schedule is pretty light again next year, depending on how Florida and UGA rebound. Even so, I doubt Missouri gets past 10 regular season wins.

I see, the injury excuse is only relevant if you recruit only 4 and 5 stars?

Something like that, UGA lost the complete depth chart at positions as well.

Mizzou and Florida were both playing with their backup QBs that game. The difference is Florida's QBs are horrible up and down their depth chart. Our backup, freshman QB scored two TDs on two drives in Georgia and then went 3-1.
In the Georgia game, Georgia had gone on a 17-0 run in the second half, and then Franklin gets hurt. Our backup QB comes in and we outscore Georgia 14-0 the rest of the game. Let's all cry about injuries.

We lost 8 of our top 10 on the OL for multiple games, and our starting QB. We were every bit as ravaged as both if those teams.
I'll ask again, why is it a legit excuse for those teams but not Mizzou?

I thought Mizzous first year would wake them up but they used the injury excuse, which is ok, because in year 2 karma made an appearance. But only being in the SEC 2 years and winning the east only to get a 21-gun salute in the SECCG should humble Mizzou fans but for some reason they have got this big head on them as if Arky or USCe has never had success. Before aTm and Mizzou those 2 were the new guys who took jabs at the Big6 every once and awhile but eventually found their place. Time for some humble pie aTm and Mizzou.

Was Florida's the WR who hadn't played QB since junior high or did that come later in the year?

The formula for winning championships has been established. Stop the run, and run the ball. You can't do that consistently with 2* lineman. So, Mizzou will beat the Arky's and Kentucky's of the world because Pink is a great coach, but will get throttled by the big boy's who make 5* lineman a priority.

Arky doesn't have 2* linemen on either side of the ball...

Florida's back up QB that game almost didn't even play. Honestly, after he transferred this year, it came out that he played hurt. The third stringer should have been starting but I guess the coaches figured they had no shot with the 3rd stringer?
And don't try and say Missouri was as injured as Florida. It's just not the case.
Florida was playing 4 guards on the OL that game and it showed. They were also missing starters all over the defense too.
Missouri was the better team last year regardless, but the injuries at Florida were frickin devestating last year. Mostly because of WHO was injured.

Sounds like you have poor depth. Our starting QB was one of the best QBs in the conference. Muschamp must be a poor recruiter.
