The time for talk is over! I want serious candidates and what they would bring to the program. Who could best take over, convince recruits to stick with us and move us into championship contention.
Or does a complete reset need to take place with a new regime and complete reliance on new talent?
On the table: Howland, Shaka, Bruce, McDermott, the Wichita State guy, Pat Summit.

Shaka Smart would never come.
Ben Howland. He's had success on the east and west coast. Been to 3 final fours. Would thrive in a low pressure job where we just want tourney appearances and the occasional sweet 16. He has made good inroads in the Georgia AAU scene so getting talent wouldn't be difficult.

Good recruiting would be a bonus, Howland would have Bama in tourney with all 3 star players.

what happened to cause a losing season at ucla after 3 straight final fours? ... i'd like to know that first ... everything i've read so far points to laziness in managing the team/roster ...

bama has a unique position ... it's a highly successful football school with just enough bball success in the past to warrant someone building a legacy here that's somewhat competitive with football ... and the ad has money, thanks to saban ... it could happen here ...

We might as well roll with the proven commodity, Bruce Pearl. I just dont understand how these guys seem to suddenly lose their ability to coach when they get to Ttown. Both Gottfried and Grant were hot when they came. Maybe Wimp can take a few months a year out of his talk show schedule.

Gottfried also had 2 rebuilding years, followed by NIT runner up, then 5 straight tourney appearances. In 06-07 he had Bama 13-1 and ranked in the top 10 before falling apart in SEC play. It's not like he came to Bama and flamed out in 5 years.
VCU is starting to remind me of Boise St in football. Coaches leave for bigger jobs, and fail trying to recreate what they had at VCU.
