Congrats on the Cotton Bowl. It will be interesting to see who ends up ranked number 5 on Tuesday(assuming this is when the final AP and coaches poll come out)

Those polls are biased due to the human element submitting bullshite ballots / grinding axes / etc.

The only poll that mattered, the BCS amalgam poll which is much more unbiasd, had Missouri ahead of the Clucks.

they accomplished more than us by winning a lower-tier bowl than the one we played in?

intredasting

I think he is saying they beat a better (or at least higher ranked) team. Both teams had excellent years.

When I wrote that, the thought in my mind was that Alabama was unquestionably one of the top two teams until we crapped out in the Sugar Bowl...so by virtue of winning the Cotton Bowl, it puts Missouri above us in the final analysis. I wasn't really thinking about the gamecocks or comparing their bowl.

If I meant to start this debate, I would have tried to come up with better criteria - like weighing record and stats in conference games much heavier, etc. All I meant to do was be gracious to Missouri. What an accomplishment for your second year in the SEC

Ain't that the truth!! It took us forever and a day to make it to the SECCG only to be embarrassed quite thoroughly. Our time is fast approaching, though. I truly believe that.

Missouri has much to be proud about, and they should be able to build off this season. Congrats on the success Missouri because winning a bunch in the SEC isn't an easy thing to do.

Now the journey of consistently winning in the SEC starts. With so many top notch SEC programs chasing the top staying on top is very tough to pull off. But......what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This is why our SEC Champion is so strong and battle-tested.......

Oh yeah, I personally would want Bama in the Cotton Bowl, but I'm from an older CFB generation where the Cotton Bowl is a huge bowl game. I still think the Cotton Bowl should've been a BCS bowl, but at the new Jerry World stadium.

I'm from that same generation, and I can't think of the Cotton as less than the Capital One (Citrus).

But to me, the tradition of the bowls was destroyed by moving major bowls off of January 1. It's not the same, so I'd rather have a playoff than this semi-traditional mess.

Yeah, we know. And thanks.

Unfortunately you can't pay Missouri a compliment around here without the Clucks doing a circle jerk.

In case you hadn't guessed, we were their Super Bowl - their season high point.

So, while we wear the East crown they ham off to a continuous loop of the doink. Keeps 'em busy and active...

That is such a completely unfair and a very ignorant statement to make considering most of us have been in your corner the entire time. Why? Because we've been the new guys with the same type of history as y'all. And if you'd go back and actually read even the statements I've made in this post, you'd realize that not all of us use the game against y'all as the measuring stick for our season's success. It was a great game and a great win, yes. But it could have just as easily gone y'alls way instead of ours. And we've been quite busy laughing at Clemson, actually. That's the biggest game of our regular season. And the one game that we focus on more than any other. And the game that we WILL NOT let the Tigers from Tater Tech forget about. This "Cluck" was never involved in any type of circle jerk because A: I'm a female and B: I know where my team stands at the end of the year and I don't need polls to validate that. Every fan base has posters that have a different style of posting that members of their own fan base may not agree with, including your own. But I don't judge an entirety by a single part. I would have thought your fan base would do the same. Actually, I find that those that are the posters that the rest of the fan base they represent don't agree with are the very ones that DO judge the whole by a part. Hmmmmmmm......

If most Cluck fans are in our corner, it's news to the Missouri SECrant community.

With the obvious exclusion of yourself and a couple of others, they were relentless and obnoxious in their trolling of us from our game onward.

I don't expect you to know the details of this or the postings of your fellow Clucks. But since they decided to start it, I'll take every opportunity to rub their faces in a 12 win season, SEC East Championship, non-clusterfrick SECCG, and non-cable nationally televised Cotton Bowl win.

No offense meant toward you...

Not trying to speak for him, but I think the point was that the Capital One Bowl has a higher payout than the Cotton Bowl, making it a slightly higher tiered Bowl. I'm pretty sure everyone knows how the funds from the Bowls are divvied up between the schools and the SEC. Just my perception of what was meant by that comment.

first: classy posts, carolina girl.

second: while the above quote may be correct, i think it's reasonable to say that if mizzou (and by extension, their fanbase) was located somewhere in the same proximity as USC, they probably would've gotten the nod for the capitol one bowl instead....but for some inexplicable reason, there are a handful of folks here that actually believe the cap one invite was based by on-field merit alone, which is pretty laughable. both the cap one AND cotton bowls benefited the most with the matchups they had, end of story....

It's the south carolina way. They've done the same to us the past couple of years.

I think this sums up the entire argument pretty nicely.

Mizzou has an enormous alumni base in Dallas and a trip to Dallas isn't really that far 8ish hours by car.

On the other hand, CoSC is much closer to Orlando and is an easier trip for your fanbase.

Mizzou sold out their allotment to the Cotton Bowl within minutes. That likely would not have happened if it was the Cap One bowl. Hell I know Wisconsin hadn't sold out their allotment to the Cap One as of December 23rd.

Overall good wins for both teams and the bowls put money first (not saying we would have gotten the Cap One bowl if we were closer, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility).

And right on cue a pup shows up talking smack about a team they swear by God is irrelevant to them. Funny how that happens with precision clock-like consistency.

Remember when we picked on Mizzou and acted like they didn't belong and couldn't win in the SEC?

You still don't belong in the South-East, but you absolutely do belong in the SEC.

Classy post, and thank you. It was definitely a fun season. If I had to rank the top half of the league, to me it would probably look something like this:

Auburn
Bama
Mizzou

LSU
South Carolina
Georgia
Texas A&M

Good luck to Auburn tonight. Keep the SEC bowl dominance going.

When did I say USCe was irrelevant to us? They're a division foe that has been our toughest game in the east the past few years.

You can be a meaningful game while not cracking our list of rivals.

That said, USCe loves to play the "we beat you" card while finishing in second in the division.
