Go SEC! Yay everyone else! Let's all win and have a big group hug! We'll all get more money, and strengthen our prestige! Yall are so completely and utterly clueless.
-Money. First, the entire bowl pot is evenly split amongst SEC teams. Vandy is getting as much this bowl season as alabama. SEC teams winning their bowl game doesn't matter in that regard
-Prestige. Since the South started winning a couple rose bowls pre-1950 and the national media wasn't exclusively focused on only ND, USC, and non-SEC teams so much, the SEC has been one of if not the strongest leagues for the last 60 years. Our league is strong and nobody would think any differently if we dont' sweep the bowls.
-It helps my team if the SEC is good! This is the biggest fallacy that people regurgitate. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any team. If other SEC teams besides my own (and yours, the reader) win titles/bowl games, that only helps THEIR recruiting, not yours. Take Auburn for instance. Auburn winning does nothing but strengthen their recruiting pitch. We play auburn every year, therefore it directly hurts UGA, not helps. People always want to say it helps recruiting for the SEC to be good. And my response is what good does it do for one team to say to a recruit "come play in the SEC, where national titles are won" when a team you play against every year can say "come play for [team x], WE win national titles"? It's the biggest dickride of all time.
-Pecking order. 5 years ago, UGA was the only other SEC team besides LSU to win a CWS. That was a feather in our cap that we could use to prop up our program history. Fast forward to now, USC has not only won one as well to join the club, they've passed us with 2. Does that help UGA in any way just because the SEC won? No. In 2009 Auburn had only won 1 national title in school history. Next week they could potentially have 3. Does that help UGA at all in the all time pecking order of the league? No, it hurts us.
I don't know how it happened, but Big Brother (SEC) has brainwashed too many of you. There aren't near enough Winstons out there anymore. Your cries of SEC!SEC! toe the party line, but what good does that really do you? The end of 1984 sums up some of yall perfectly, being mentally beaten down and brainwashed for too long until you finally give in. To paraphrase it below:

He gazed up at the enormous circular logo, seeing another conference team win the big one. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two bourbon-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved The SEC.

one loss SEC teams get in due to the conference power rankings, etc... better TV contracts, better bowl contacts...
I only care about Auburn winning, hope the rest of the SEC goes 0-9

Tv contracts and bowl contacts have nothing to do with a team making the title game. And the ACC is pretty darn weak, but FSU is in the game aren't they?

So you agree with me. That's the mindset you should have IMO, with some exceptions.

yup, you never hear recruits say they just wanted to play in the SEC, nope never.

SEC is in certain bowl games because of their dominance and wining, therefor more money. SEC has the better bowl selections because of that.

Does that help UGA
boo hoo

If you're good enough to compete for a NC, it does. Why do you think one loss SEC teams get in over one loss teams from other conferences?
I'm not a "go SEC" guy, but I don't agree with that statement.

All SEC teams are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Maybe the ones going to vandy and kentucky. But there's a reason those schools don't recruit as well as bama, because bama plays for and wins national titles. People want to go to schools they can see can win titles.

because of bowl tie ins. We went 6-6 in 2010, yet we still went to a bowl because it had an SEC tie-in, not because of our dominance and winning.

therefor more money
Once again, the bowl pot is split. Also, as a fan WGAS how much money the school gets? It doesn't matter to any of us if the schools makes an extra few hundred thousand.

???
I used that example because I'm a UGA fan. Things that don't directly help Auburn, I would think you'd be against as well.

There's a difference in playing a tough schedule and wanting the league to win all its bowl games.
Auburn getting in the title game THIS YEAR has absolutely, postively, nothing to do with which SEC teams won their bowl games LAST YEAR.

Well we are getting recruits left and right from our rival in Austin and recruits frequently mention the SEC as one of the reasons. So... you're dumb.

nope, well yes them included, but it pertains to all the schools

how do you think they got these bowl tie ins?

yes and a larger pot because of the SEC dominance
are you really this obtuse?

I think it may help the new members or teams on the geographic fringe of the SEC, but for the majority of members, another SEC team winning the national championship does not help recruiting.
The conference is already established.

I disagree. If SEC teams had been getting drummed in NC games, I definitely think other teams would have a chance to slide past them. Like I said, I'm not going to cheer for SEC teams to win, but I don't think them winning is a bad thing. I get the whole recruiting thing, but I think Auburn recruits good enough anyway.
