ESPN: Alabama fans would feel spurned if Saban left

Is this true? I feel that most Alabama posters here have been pretty level headed about the possibility of him leaving. Would Alabama fans really be that mad at a guy who won them 3 nattys?

Buddy of mine said "if he leaves, frick em"
I said but 3 NC tho. "I don't care. He would be wrong for lying."
Lulz. Momma always said you lose em like you found em.

Some would be for sure.
Put me in the camp that would be grateful for what he accomplished at The Capstone.

Probably, but you won't get them to say that here.
All your gonna get is, "no, we wish him well. Thanks for the memories." bs.
Precisely why I don’t like the fricker. Not for leaving LSU, but how he lied at Miami, got offered more money, then fricked them.
All we heard was "yall just mad he left LSU rabble rabble rabble"
Gonna be funny if he puts the shoe on their foot

Of course they would.
Anyone would.
Look at Cleveland after Lebron left. And he didn't even win them a championship.

Some will and some won't. There are all kinds in our fanbase so it's impossible to know.

I'm sure some would feel spurned, I'm sure some wouldn't. Don't think you can just paint in broad strokes as ESPN often tries to do. Personally I wouldn't feel "spurned" or any bad-will to him. He's going to leave Alabama eventually for one reason or another. He's worked his arse off for Alabama for the last seven years, and brought three national championships. I don't think even the most homerific Alabama fans would've guessed he'd have that much success. The program is in 1000x better shape now than when he got to Tuscaloosa, I'll wish him the best whenever he decides to go, whether it's Texas or retirement.

I'm in the appreciation camp. I'm thankful for his hard work brining this program back to it's rightful place in college football. I thankful for the facility improvements, the stadium expansions, the athletes that he's helped go on to professional careers, and the money he's given to numerous charitable causes over the years. I appreciated everything he's done to bring Bama back up out of the dumpster it dwelled in during the sanction days.
If he chooses to move on, I say thank you Coach and Mrs. Terry for your time and hard work.

This is the correct answer.

Most probably won't feel "spurned"
Now if he decided after 2 seasons Texas just wasn't a good fit and took a job at, oh I don't know, say Auburn . . . then yeah, it would make LSU fans reaction in 07 look like child's play.

Not sure "spurned" is the right word, more disappointed, I guess. I like Coach Saban's coaching philosophy, which has informed my approach to my children on some pretty difficult issues. And, no, none of them have been processed. I think a lot of Tide fans are not realistic about the pull of the UT job, but it may have nothing to do with being a better job. Saban may want the MNC with a third school. He might just want a change for change's sake. Or he might decide to stay. I hope he stays, but if he doesn't, I am glad we had him here when we did.

Most here acknowledge it would be hypocritical and would handle it well.
Most IRL would not handle it very well.
