Mizzou fans, how do y'all feel about going against Auburn's offense?

Honest question. I know y'all have a beastly defensive line, and I honestly think a four-man front should be more successful than a 4-backer formation.

nothing to worry about with San, Wilson, Ealy, and Gaines

I know a lot of the focus will be on AU O -MIZZ D. and that actually be more of a push. MIZZ has been both playing and practicing against the spread for years, this is nothing new.
I think there is a real issue for AU D though. I don't know how they plan on matching up with the MIZZ receivers. That's a pretty big dis advantage , and while they don't have TRE. Their backs are pretty good and have good burst.
I want AU to win , but I don't know. If you really look at it on paper , other than the LUCK category, MIZZ is at a push or advantage in each.

Our D will play well enough to give us a chance to win. Your scheme causes problems for everybody though.

Best rushing offense in the country and it's not close. We're not going to "shut it down."
We're going to have to control clock and score points.

You might not shut it down, but I think the speed of you front 4 and LB. might really help to stretch AU runs out so that they start running more east to west

A lot of talk about our pass rush, but our 4 headed monster at DE also plays the run very well. They are complete players and fast.
We also have a thumper in the middle who will clean up plays and make it hurt while doing it.
Like I said, AU has a great scheme and players. We won't shut them down but we will contain them enough to let our offense win the game.
We win the TO battle, we win IMO

Bama had the best rushing attack in the country and was able to shut down LSUs power game. Auburn will rush for 250+, it's just a fact.

I could be wrong, but it seems like speedy defensive linemen would be a reason to run it straight up the middle. That not only takes away their ability to beat you to the edge, it also negates the pass rush. Is that not right?

I'm not worried about stopping the run, but our pass defense has scared me to death for the past 5 years. Ellis' 4-2-5 scheme is built to stop the spread, but I know next to nothing about Mizzou's passing game (or any other aspect for that matter) and we gave up 40+ points to Texas A&M because of the hoss that is Mike Evans

Actually, that's exactly what I'd do if I were in your place. You'll have a better shot at running it up the middle than trying to get the edge. Then, it will be up to our DTs and LBs, and while they've improved this season they aren't as strong as the DEs.
Keep in mind though, our pass rush rarely includes a blitz. So you won't find the box as stacked as you might expect. Also, our D is that "bend but don't break" brand that will give up decent chunks of yardage in the middle, but rarely give up the long play.

This should be a concern.

You won't find a dominant receiver like Evans on our team. Instead, you'll find 6+ tall, athletic, fast guys, any fo whom can beat you. We spread the ball to a lot of playmakers, usually 10+ every game, so no one guy has gaudy numbers. Instead, you'll have 3 RBs plus the QB, any of whom can rip off 100+ yards in a game. And our shortest starting receiver is 6'4". They create mismatches

Personally I want to go against Alabama's offense and Auburn's Defense. Can I get that please? and some mayo?

I'm curious without looking it up. How does the Mizz D rank compared to the Bama D?
IMO (haven't payed attention to Mizz this year (or any other year) AU will get there's and it depends on what AUs defense can muster up. I see a game that IF AU scores 30+ like history tells us then AU wins. If the Mizz D holds AU under 30 then it'll be a toss up. That's what I'm gonna look for. If AU is hitting 30 points I won't be that worried honestly.

Bama's rush D is 10th, Mizzou 14th. Mizzou's backs are faster than bama's and never stop attacking. Much like your team they will fight to the end. We cause a lot of turnovers and you guys tend to give up the ball at least once. I wouldn't get too cocky if I was you

Statistically, yards per play, we are second behind Bama and we dominate TO ratio. Our Defense is legit.
I kind of feel the same way. I don't have much doubt we will move the ball well. We need to convert in the red zone. If we can get above 30 we will have a great chance to win.

Funny I've felt that way this week also. The team that get's above 30 probably takes it.

Auburn is on 86-0 streak right now if we score more than 30. Last loss was in '96

Dammit don't jinx us!
On a serious note, I'm not sure what made me happier about Ricardo Louis' catch against UGA: preserving the 30 point streak or keeping UGA from retaking the series lead.

I know it's the SEC CG, but I feel like there's a decent opportunity for a letdown performance by Auburn. 2 miracle wins in a row + beating a #1-ranked 11-0 rival. I doubt they'll spend the whole week reading their newspaper clippings, but even 1-2 meh days of practice is possible, maybe even likely.
