Unfortunately, my Thanksgiving week involved the death of a loved one, and I came back to Missouri on Friday. Staying with family in the KC area, I noticed something I don't ever remember seeing: Overwhelming black and gold.
Granted, the timing was perfect, given our season an subsequent clinching of the SEC East. That said, I don't recall such a (welcomed) shortage of turd bird stuff in this area...ever.
If moving to the SEC has impacted Mizzou's fan base in KC, it sure didn't show this weekend. I'm not a KC native and have never lived here, so this is anecdotal, at best.
What's not anecdotal is this: I would eat a mile of glass and shite, if it were a trail leading out of kansas.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Mizzou fever is alive and well in KC and I love it. I work at a large facility that has 900 employees and I would bet at least 50% of the front line population had on Mizzou attire. Even saw the SEC East Champ tshirts.

Mizzou pride is alive and well here in KC! I have been noticing way more Mizzou gear lately when I'm out and about. They way it should be!

Much to the media's dismay, Mizzou is by far the biggest fanbase in the KC area. It isn't even close.

That's pretty awesome with how well the Chiefs have been doing as well.
Haven't been to STL since the Cards World Series games, but I had my brother texting me during the USC game and everyone around me was coming to me for the score every 5 minutes. So hopefully it is picking up there too.

I live in Eastern KC, near Independence, and Mizzou gear is everywhere. There are Jayhawks here too, but they're in hiding til this time of year when BBall starts. KC loves college sports.

We were staying on the Plaza Saturday night. Place was rocking and lots of us Mizzou fans buying stuff at Rally House. Whooping and hollering after game along Ward Parkway on Brush Creek after the game.
It was a blast!

I, too, was in KC (Blue Springs) for Thanksgiving and Mizzou was well represented.
Think KC Mizzou fans are more hardened, intense fans as they are bordering the enemy. Glad to see them showing off their school pride to all the chickenhawks.

There is a silent majority in Kansas City, Missouri. The kansas side is heavily kU. But KCMO is Mizzou territory.

I'd like to see more flags flying but every where I go there are people wearing black and gold. Saw a DGB SEC license plate the other day. Tried to get a picture but was too slow. Neighbor up the street has had his van all customized with mizzou. Pretty cool. I'll try to remember to get a picture of that one.

Only been living near KC for a year, but there's a noticeable difference in the amount of mizzou gear on display/being sported. And a noticeable decrease in beaker duds.
Even my wife was commenting on it the other day.
Good stuff!

This is not completely true. While there are many ku fans, they do not dominate the kansas side, either. Just as an example, I live in Johnson County and in my subdivision, there are all sorts of colleges represented. Going by flags, decorative stones, car plates, etc. at each house, within a two block radius of my house there are as many Mizzou homes as ku homes and ksu, isu and nu follow close behind and throughout the subdivision there are plenty of homes touting UGA, Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Iowa.
Maybe ku fans dominate the poorer parts of kansas. I couldn't comment on that.

Agreed. I used to live in Prairie Village before moving to the much better MO suburbs and it was very evenly distributed between Mizzou and kU. I would say the k-Staters tend to live away from the city in Olathe, Shawnee and Lenexa.

We used to live in Leawood, KS; and while many fan bases were represented, kU had the most. I taught middle level students and had fun wearing my Mizzou apparel. My of students had a father in the sporting goods business. He gave me a black t-shirt with 7 gold paw prints with block M. It reads: I Live in Kansas But I ain't One. Still wear it when I want to shock Wichitians!
