5. Team impact. Good players get good stats. Great players get great stats. Elite players lift the teams around them. Let's look at the team records and accomplishments.
National championships: In Herschel's 3 years, Georgia won a national championship and played for another. In Bo's 4, Auburn won none and played for none.
SEC championships: Georgia won 3 in Herschel's 3 years. Auburn won 1 in Auburn 's 4.
Winning percentage:
Georgia: .917 (33-3), Auburn: .755 (37-12)
At home: Georgia: 1.000 (19-0), Auburn: .846 (22-4)
Away: Georgia: .909 (10-1), Auburn: .714 (10-4)
SEC: Georgia: 1.000 (18-0), Auburn: .708 (17-7)
Win streaks:
Home: Georgia: 19, Auburn: 10
SEC: Georgia: 18, Auburn: 9
SO SEXY. CAN WE CLONE WALKER

Walker was an elite college running back asked to carry a team, and he did. He had a better college career than Bo Jackson, no doubt. There are several legit arguments that Bo was still a better RB than HW, but HW did more, and had to, at UGA.
Bo Jackson is a superhuman legend and one of the most elite athletes in the history of modern sports. Not much else to say.

I'm pointing out how comparing two RBs based only on YPC is ridiculous because circumstances are always different.
So you're saying Bo and Herschel did NOT play in the same era, did NOT play in the same conference, and did NOT play the same teams?
You may be right though. UGA's schedules sure were a lot easier than Auburn's back then, with Auburn having UGA, Bama, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Florida as annual opponents as compared to UGA playing Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Florida as their annual opponents.
So you make a great point that Bo played a MUCH harder schedule every year than Herschel did and STILL had better averages. I'm glad you brought that up.

So your response is that its easier to have a better record and better statistics against weaker in AND out-of-conference opponents like Herschel did?
I agree, BRO 100%!

Kiss the ring on that finger baby. 33-3 during his time in Athens. Considered by most to be a TOP 5 and sometimes listed as number 1 greatest college (PLAYER) of all time.

(keep in mind that Bo played 1 more year than Herschel also)
I refuse to pick one or the other but this is the stuff that has to be addressed. All of you "he played one fewer year" crowd do realize the vastly significant higher number of carries Herschel had over Bo right regardless of how many years each of them were at their school.

If anyone can produce a reputable all time college football player ranking that has Bo ranked better than Herschel I'd love to see i
Of course Herschel is ranked higher his numbers are vastly superior for the reason stated above. However, it's the same logic that would rank a player like Tim Tebow over Cam Newton though it's plainly obvious who the better player is/was.
I'd pretty much sum it up like this. If I had to pick a RB for one game I'd go with Bo, for an entire season I'd go with Herschel.

The point is...BO Jackson was not a better player. BO Jackson could not have done what Walker did at UGA. I don't think I can state that any more clearly. 33-3 and carried the team on his back. Bo was an outstanding RB but we are talking durability, longetivity, will, skill, the entire point of the post. Walker was and will always be the best RB of all time. Anyone can throw up stats and have a debate but when you look at UGA before they landed Walker and after you will see what I mean when I say he literally carried the team to a SHIP as a freshman and his will alone won us a ton of games.

We can have a reasonable discussion about this, but not with dogshit posts like these.
Bo couldn't do what HW did? Dude Bo could do what pretty much any other high-end athlete could do in anything.

NOPE

So if Lindsay Scott doesn't run for 90 yards against Florida Herschel isn't as good?

HW could likely have played past age 40. He is in the MMA cage today. Carried the ball more times in three years, than Bo did in four. Carried the USFL alone for several years.

Team was average. 6-5....12-0 year turn around and anyone with half a brain could see the impact of Walker.
Walker came in and made team dominant.
Facts are Facts jack.

For all of the backup school crying, we still haven't seen a citation other than yahoo answers and kaboom magazine that has Bo Jackson as a better college football player than Herschel Walker.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure such a publication exists, but the Auburn folks need to realize they are in the minority among the impartial publications.
