Is this sort of thing something that he can do because he is so strong or is it just something that defensive ends aren't ready for? It's kind of like judo or something where you use your opponents momentum against them.

Also, is this going to get him burned? It seems like he only uses it when the end rushes up field hard combined with a draw play.

Not on a draw play. He would never attempt this on a called pass play.

I'm not bringing it up because it happened. I'm asking a question about it's use in games. It's called a football discussion.

Yeah, well, physical contact is ENCOURAGED on the line of scrimmage... not so much in the defensive backfield.

I know that the helmet slap has been illegal in the NFL for sometime, but is it still legal in college?

Yeah, I can see him whiffing if some gorilla armed 6'7" freak stiff arms him off the line.

Strength obviously has a part to it, but I think he can do it mainly because he recognizes improper technique by the DE. He fakes like he'll deliver a big hit with his left hand, then he slams the guy down with his right.

I think the helmet slap is illegal. He is clearly slapping him on the shoulder though.
