Why are Mizzou fans blaming the loss on the kicker?

Blame it on the units on both sides of the ball coughing up a 17 point lead in the 4th quarter and the coaching.

Seriously there were so many factors in that loss.

Kicker misses a longish FG to seal the win and an absolute chip shot half of us could kick.

4th and goal looked like our 3rd down defense.

Defense allowing two full length drives in the last 5 mins.

Offense not getting a first down when they could easily run out the clock.

Big changer in the season's momentum.

Normally I would agree with you but Baggett has sucked all season he has missed two extra points, several field goal attempts to the point where I lost count, and it's not just the attempts they are 20-35 yard field goals like last night the guy can't fricking kick enough said. If there isn't a new kicker this weekend Pinkel isn't doing his job as head coach to give his team the best chance to win

No reason a kicker should miss a kick that easy

just like Red Sox fans blame Bill Buckner for losing the World Series in 86.
Hell, Buckner had an RBI in the game he has forever been vilified for.

The defense unable to defend a screen pass and giving up a 4th and goal from the 15 in the first overtime were just as responsible.

That kicker makes the kick all it does is force a a 3rd OT.

Blame it on the secondary and linebackers that allowed South Carolina to pass for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Exactly!

Mizzou was over rated to begin with and based their BCS/SEC worthiness on beating some good teams. Both of the teams that Mizzou beat had already played a brutal schedule and had several key injuries on both sides of the ball.

SC was a better team on paper but it seems like the players just don't give a 110% this year.

When Spurrier said fuk it I'm playing "my game" the second half we see what happened.

Sorry Mizzou but it's your own fault that you set yourself up for disappointment.

I was pulling for Mizzou. The only reason was, "I didn't want Bama to have to play UF, UGA, or SC in the SECCG." I knew that Mizzou was not that good of a team and would not match up well for Bama.

No excuse for the absolute losers posting that crap to twitter, especially when they'd never say that stuff to his face. The kicker is bad. This was not his first miss. He's missed a couple PAT's and a number of FG's already this year. So he is bad and we need to find someone better but he didn't cost us the game so it's stupid to blame him for the loss.

Off the top of my head:

-Sitting on the clock with just shy of a minute left.
-Not figuring out how to stop a simple screen pass
-Penalties that earlier take you out of FG range
-Allowing a 4th and goal conversion from the 15
-WR's dropping passes
-QB throwing for under 50%
-Changing the play calling in the second half

Basically, a team effort to pissing the game away, not just the kicker, no matter how bad he is.

Relying on kickers in college doesn't pay off. Mizzou lost that game giving up that 4th down and then not scoring a td when they got close.
