Well actually neither are the best (that honor goes to the Dark Lord) but this award seems to masquerading when it's really just a trophy handed out for "Most Improved"...

Unless both teams start going full retard in the coming weeks, who do you got seeing as both now have 1 SEC loss. The race should be all tied up right now, right?

Pinkel doesn't have a shot unless we make to Atlanta. The people that have smarts know the team was just injured last year.

Ugh...I have to say Malzahn.

He brought Auburn back from the dead with voodoo like magic.

Malzahn. Unlike Missouri and Tennessee, Auburn hasn't been able to feast on hurt teams. Furthermore, Auburn's SEC loss was a month ago, in the rain, at the toughest venue in college football, with a quarterback that hadn't found his groove yet.

2 years removed from a National Championship? Auburn is loaded with talent. (suspicious how it never fell off thanks to Lowder and Dye $$$)

Pinkel has done a better job with less.

If Mizzou makes it to Atlanta, probably Pinkel.

Saban doesn't need another trophy.

Are we loaded or not? All I heard last year is how we didn't keep anyone we recruited. Now we're "loaded with talent"?

Saban should be the SEC COTY and it's not even close.

quote:

They’ve won all seven starts and been threatened only once by a one-of-a-kind player in Johnny Manziel. Otherwise, their biggest challenges have come from within.

It goes beyond having to replace three starters, all of them NFL draft picks, two of them first-rounders, from one of the best offensive lines in school history.

There were the off-season suspensions and then dismissals of four players. There were the preseason suspensions of three more players, two of them defensive regulars in Trey DePriest and Geno Smith. There was the in-season suspension of starting safety and defensive leader HaHa Clinton-Dix.

There was the injury that sidelined starting center Ryan Kelly for several weeks, and now comes the injury that’ll put starting safety Vinnie Sunseri on the shelf for the rest of the season.

There was the episode when it appeared wide receiver Kenny Bell was going to leave the team but changed his mind after Saban granted him a personal day.

There was the Yahoo! Sports story alleging that former player Luther Davis funneled extra benefits from agents - one of them an Alabama grad - to five SEC players, one of them former Alabama tackle D.J. Fluker. That story raised at least the possibility of an NCAA investigation to come.

That’s almost a season’s worth of wounds, real and potential, self-inflicted and otherwise, yet the growing pile of clutter and misfortune has had zero impact on the bottom line.

That’s a tribute to Saban and his staff and their ability to keep their minds and the minds of the players on the business of winning football games. It's also a credit to their recruiting. Few teams can replace first a Clinton-Dix and now a Sunseri with a five-star impact player such as Landon Collins.

Yeah... but already went over this, it's really a most improved award. If they seriously wanted to give the COTY to the actual Coach of the year, it would be Nick Saban 3 of the last 4 years.

I agree it will be between those two. The next few weeks one of them will lock it down.

If Bama wins out, Saban should get it. I really thought they'd be down a little this year, but there not. And, they seem to be playing better each week. I think this yrs D may be better than last year's. Offense too. Ready to see them destroy FSU or Oregon.
