What's the point in only 60-70 D1 teams?
Well if there is less D1 teams and you have to only play D1 that would make everybody play better competition.

Yeah but would this mean bringing in the likes of Colorado, TCU and Boston College to BDS?

Sure why not. ND doesn't schedule those sort of garbage games, even when they suck and need the wins. There are some teams that have never played an FCS opponent, and we bring one in every year it seems.

Disagree with the first part of 9 good games and 3 patsies.
SEC+ACC+PAC-12+Big Ten+American+Big 12 is about 70 teams. This would eliminate patsies

They need to just form the four 16 team conferences and have a few independents. No need to play a 9 game schedule. You play the 3 in your division, a permanent opponent from every other division and rotate the rest. It will work just like it was when we had 12 teams. Then you get a 6 team playoff. The two top seeds receive byes and the bottom four play in December and the remaining games should be in Jan. To be fair, the super conference should give a small percentage of its earnings to keep funding all other divisions of college athletics, but they should not be allowed to play anyone outside. Since there would be 4 non conference games, it would be ideal to play one opponent from each conference or an independent.
See how easy that was, but i did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Would it be possible to schedule 3 patsies with only ~45 potential OOC opponents? I mean, I guess you could schedule Indiana, Boston College, and Kansas, but that would at least be better than Georgia State, Western Carolina, Towson, Alcorn State, etc
True. I just like the idea of playing every conference opponent. Takes out the LSU whining of one team having an easier schedule, and all the other bitching about only getting to go to other campuses once a decade.

In a (pre?)season interview, Saban said the level of competition in the SEC should be considered when ranking SEC teams versus everyone else.
Always laying the groundwork to pre-empt all possible scenarios he could face.

If there is going to only be 60-70 teams in division 1 then what diference does it make if teams add another conference game ?
Playing Mizzou or Florida as our 9th game is no different than playing Oklahoma St. or Penn St.

So many different ways to do it, play all conference foes and still get multiple teams from a conference in, yet still not exceed 14 or 15 games a year.
And you could even set it up where the top two from each conference get in and take out committees all together, outside of seeding. Have 8 twelve team conferences, where you play everyone. Top two make a 16 team tourney, where a committee seed them. At worst, you play eleven games instead of twelve. At best, you play 15 games instead of 14. Conferences all split revenue and everyone wins.

I would rather just play a 13 game round robin in the SEC and that's it.

No. It isn't.
Also every series would have to be a home and home so teams that have neutral site games would have only 5 home games every other year.
