Cal appealed the hit, it went to the booth, he was still ejected.

TigerintheNO, if week 1 is any indication, it looks like we're only going to see more of it. I didn't see the play to which you're referring in the Cal game; but Deshazor's hit in our game was a great play.
This rule is going to be misused, and it's going to affect the outcome(s) of games. And thats bad stuff for college football.

Colorado, if what ive read this morning is correct, there is no appeal process. The conference can only add to a suspension, not reduce it.
A very unfortunate rule.

So, if Bama is ever losing in SEC play, expect half the opposing D to be ejected?

Clean hit. Rather get hit like that than to the knees or helmet. Pads to pads. Thats why they wear em. Bad call. Sucks for the aTm player.

Even the guy who got hit thinks it wasn't a penalty.
To be fair, his dad is former Aggie great, and current Houston Texans head coach, Gary Kubiak. Gary didn't raise no bitch.

Yeah I think this rule just sets up for a ref to make a bad call early in a game and you lose an important player for the game due to it.
It should be no ejections and a post game ruling on whether or not it deserves a suspension for the next game.

I don't see this rule sticking. That ATM ejection was BS.
Refs gone Ref.
Refs gone Ref.

BS call. Looked strong and clean.

You think we will see many more of these calls this season?
There were at least two yesterday so probably.
And it's a real shame. Another rule added will be misused/abused all season because it depends upon the objectivity of the referee making the call. Chances are those things will never get overturned either because the guys in the booth are going to have the backs of the guys on the field.

That was a good, clean hit. This new rule is going to cause a lot of butthurt this season and they will hopefully change it next year.

This is what I was thinking about. Losing a Freak Johnson, Ego Ferguson or Craig Loston for the remainder of a game and then half of the next game over a hit like the one in the A&M game.
Oregon had a guy ejected on a hit he took on a sliding Nichols St. QB.

All I saw was a good physical hit with shoulder pads to chest.
WTF are the Coaches supposed to tell the players? Your team better have a lot of good db's if this is the bs we have to deal with.
