re: Catholic Craftsmen. I Need Your Help.

ChatGPT says,
ETA paragraphs
quote:
The short answer is:
No, a Catholic is generally not required to use an "official Vatican-approved" image of a saint on a rosary. A craftsman can design and cast his own saint medals, crucifixes, and centerpieces as long as they respectfully depict the saint and do not contain doctrinal errors.
A few points:
Is there an official Vatican version?
Not usually.
The Catholic Church generally does not maintain a single official image for most saints. Throughout history, saints have been depicted in many different artistic styles and cultures.
For example, Saint Francis of Assisi has been portrayed by hundreds of artists over centuries. The common identifying symbols (animals, birds, brown habit, stigmata, etc.) help people recognize him, but there is no single required image.
Likewise, Saint Patrick might be shown with a shamrock, bishop's vestments, or snakes, depending on the artist.
What about rosary centerpieces and medals?
Most commercial rosary parts are simply produced by manufacturers. A company such as Sisters of Carmel or another supplier is generally selling a design they chose to use, not "the Vatican's official version."
The Church blesses rosaries, but it does not normally dictate the exact artwork on every medal.
Could you carve and cast your own?
Absolutely.
Historically, many Catholic artisans, monks, nuns, goldsmiths, and woodworkers created their own religious art.
The important considerations would be:
The depiction should be reverent.
The saint should be identifiable.
The symbolism should not contradict Catholic teaching.
Any inscriptions should be accurate.
Any restrictions at all?
The main area where approval sometimes matters is when something claims a special spiritual status, such as:
an officially approved apparition image,
certain sacramentals with specific promises attached,
official diocesan or Vatican seals.
For ordinary saint medals on a rosary, there is generally considerable artistic freedom.
If the rosary is blessed later
A priest can bless a rosary regardless of whether the medals were commercially purchased or handcrafted, provided the item is suitable as a devotional object.
So if this gentleman carves a medal of Saint Michael the Archangel or Saint Benedict from scratch and casts it in silver, that would ordinarily be viewed as a work of religious craftsmanship, not a violation of Church rules.
The one exception I'd mention is the Saint Benedict medal specifically. That medal traditionally contains particular letters and inscriptions associated with its blessing and symbolism. An artistic rendering of St. Benedict is fine, but if you're trying to make an actual "St. Benedict Medal," you'd want the traditional inscriptions to be correct.
So my answer would be: Yes, you can create your own saint images and cast your own rosary components. There is generally no requirement to use a Vatican-approved mold or the exact artwork sold by a particular supplier.

Are you casting your hands as well? I had to slow way down, slow enough I knew what I was doing and could control my motion. Then slowly increase speed. Im still not at 100%. My hips were stalling and I was casting my hands. Now I focus on a relaxed slow swing. Start with my lead knee turning forward and supination of my hands. Its really hard to cast when you turn that wrist over.
Anyway, video yourself as well. I couldnt get it right until I slowed down and I knew I got it right because of the V1 golf app. Just makes frame by frame easy to look at.
Good luck. Pretty sure it was easier for me to quit smoking than to stop casting and getting good hip rotation. Lol.

We have a nuclear powered Navy and working supply lines. As long as it takes. Iran isn't developing nukes at the current pace. My kid is a Marine, I have no issues with this method of warfare. Ill pay the higher gas bill. Its a small price to pay to keep those psychopaths from becoming nuclear and keeping our boys from going in on the ground.
Unless you have a better plan? All ears.

What’s his plan?
Since you asked an apparently havent figured out google.
Expanding addiction and mental health treatment
Reducing street encampments
Moving people into treatment programs rather than leaving them on the streets
Greater accountability for homeless spending programs
Streamlining permits
Using AI and technology to accelerate approvals
Encouraging more housing development and rebuilding efforts
Tougher policing
Crackdowns on street disorder
Sweeps of homeless encampments
Making Los Angeles "camera ready" again (one of his campaign slogans)
Focus on Fire Prevention
Pratt's message is essentially:
"Los Angeles is too expensive, too bureaucratic, too dirty, too unsafe, and rebuilding after the fires is moving too slowly. Cut red tape, clean up the streets, get people treatment, build housing faster, and make L.A. work again."
Seems legit, little lacking on details, but I dont see anything on LGBTQ+- or safe spaces or fighting mean ole whitey so its got to be better than what they have.

Definitely some supply and demand inflation happening. My neighbor, elderly widowed lady, was going to be charged $150 to change the tailight bulb on her Pilot. I did it for her in 5 minutes.
HVAC company was going to charge me $1200ish to replace the blower motor. I rhink rhat included cleaning the outside coils as well. Cant remember. I got a Carrrier blower from the Jungle site and slapped it in there for ~450 and it may have taken 45 minutes. Most of that was me looming wire because Carrier thought it wise to leave wires running against metal all day every day.
But, I get it. When there are few of them, and tons of work, you can charge more.

Buying isnt much better. I messaged several people selling a dirt bike asking to meet so I could see it and that I was extremely interested. Half didnt get back to me, a third got back days later. Only 2 or 3 people actually returned my message.
