I totally think Johnny is guilty.

Just a hunch. It just seems like something he would do on the down low, just so in his mind he knew he could.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. I would be fine with starting Davis and winning 8 or so games this year honestly. I don't think it would be a fatal blow to our recruiting

Iunno. This was set up to be a magical season and it was because of Johnny. We were about to propel ourselves squarely in to the discussion year in and year out. This really sucks. I mean it isn't disastrous, but it isn't good at all.

It's obviously not good, but I don't think we would see a mass exodus. There would be another top 25 class and I think Kyle Allen sticks around. And this is assuming he doesn't play this year. If he misses 4 games we probably lose to Bama but we still likely win 9 or 10 games.

I'm trying not to make any judgements, but I'm honestly not inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point.

He's done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt.

I hope nothing comes of it, but only for selfish reasons.

We should move this discussion over to the thread TBird made a sticky.

I don't trust Jonas far as I can throw him. Sucks for us fans but hope Matt Davis is ready to go. Happy for him if he gets meaningful PT.

I do think our compliance dept will have this on lockdown one way or the other. I have a shiteton of fair in them. When they speak I will listen.

Of course he's guilty. It's highly unlikely anything happens, though.

I'd think the NCAA will request bank records but with the Manziel's ... the money going in an out of the account would likely be ridiculous and hard to pin down. You'd think most of these guys who do this just take a payment when their done with their eligibility so my guess is that nothing will come of it. Although I can't imagine him sticking around another year after this stunt.

He's innocent until proven guilty, but he needs to ditch Uncle Nate though. If douchiness was a job then that guy would be a damn billionaire

Let's be real. Johnny is just as big a douche as Uncle Nate.

I am so naive. For me this is a tale of two Johnny's.

The one I liked was the one I first wanted us to recruit and sign. A smaller kid from Kerrville, TX who could run like the wind and make magic happen on the football field. A kid who took a central Texas team to consecutive playoffs and came out of nowhere. I have been watching him since his Junior year in High School and couldn't wait to see him play. Then the season happened and it exceeded my wildest expectations.

Then the off season began and I figured out the ugly truth.

Johnny is a spoiled rich kid from northeast Texas who has everything handed to him and has had very little accountability. He parties it up because he has the money to do so and he is on the verge of being out of control.

Personally, I hope he didn't do it because of what that would mean for Texas A&M University, the team and the coaches.

Anyone think he might have been a better fit at Oregon or would his ego be even more rampant up there in Nike-land?

He probably wouldn't have been surrounded by so many high school and hometown hangers-on (no offense Dr. RC) at Oregon. Don't know how much effect that would have on his personal development.
