NCAA found no paper trail on Cecil getting paid. The HBO4 also decided not to talk. Not finding a smoking gun is quite different that "clean as a virgin's honeypot". It's the NCAA not the NSA, they depend on people fessin' up. The fessin' up thing is crucial to JFF. Franklin, Lightfoot, and White should have the Aggie's circling the wagons, the result of which is JFF will suit up.
Not a fan of Danny Sheridan's but some think Danny was telling the truth and was dead on. No one was talking, and as you said, the NCAA can't make anyone talk, so, there was nothing to back his claims. And threats of liability and defamation shut him and the NCAA down.
Is Texas A&M preparing to use the same wise defense, at least by hiring the same law firm?

unlike the Cam saga, there are people coming forward from different parts of the country saying the same thing. paper trail or not I think the NCAA has to work hard to see if there is one. So the million dollar ? is does TAMU play or sit JFF if the NCAA is still doing their due diligence?

What's interesting is just as judicial rules don't necessarily help the NCAA, they don't bind them either. That is, the NCAA can rule based on circumstantial evidence. There is not a complete burden of proof. It will be interesting to see if the NCAA caves like they did with Cam.

correct me if I am wrong but isn't TAMU one of the college that leads the NCAA in infractions. This just did not become a thing with them

in the cam saga they were near the end of the season with a national title in their eye sites. We have not started the season and there have been plenty of these off season investigations that have taken a while to finalize. TAMU may get the NCAA to push things forward so they can have a definitive answer by the Bama game

Keep in mind also that aTm and the Manziels are represented by different attorneys, and their interests may actually be conflicting. After weighing everything they are aware of, it is entirely possible that the aTm attorneys may advise them that it's in their best interests to sit Manziel if the NCAA hasn't ruled yet.
In the big picture, protecting Manziel, his reputation, eligibility, future earnings potential is way down on aTm's priority list after protecting the university, avoiding sanctions, fines, scholarship losses, vacated wins, etc.

Actually, no. Most 20 year olds aren't going to blow off their responsibility of supervising middle and high school players in a dorm and run off to Bourbon Street. Oh sure, many 20 year olds very well hit Bourbon Street before or after the camp and get hammered out of their minds...but to run off after curfew and abandon the kids he's actually supposed to be supervising? No...most 20 year olds are more responsible than that.

So he's a rich 20 year old being a 20 year old. I hate spoiled rich kids, I grew up all around them, and not being wealthy made me sort of hate them, but they weren't bad people, just a product of their environment.

The "He's just a 20 yr. old being a 20 yr. old" argument has zero merit.
He may be 20 but he's not a normal 20 yr. old college student. None of the 20 yr. old athletes are "normal". They represent a program and the university. They are being fairly compensated through scholarships. The expectation level should be higher. If we didn't think it should be higher, why are there multiple threads, posts, and news articles discussing what he shouldn't have done?
We all know more is expected of these athletes, and it should be. So no, he's not a normal 20 yr. old. He's the leader of a football program at a major university, and he happens to be the Heisman winner as well. It's o.k. to expect a little more...

Threats from who? A university can't sue someone for defamation, libel or slander.
Danny Sheridan finally shut up because he looked like a bigger a-hole each time he promised that the bagman was coming forward they never did.
