That couldn't be more true.

Undergrad Cajuns, grad school A&M. I mostly use this account for SECRant football talk, so the A&M tag makes more sense. But my sig is still Cajuns first...
EDIT: One thing about my time in College Station, though, was that it really taught me the value of openly and viciously hating other in-state school teams.

This thread's great! Let me clear some things up, though.
--Baton Rouge isn't really south Louisiana. It's Shreveport South, with basically a really pretty school in the middle of a ghetto. Redneck country. So trying to do anything ridiculous like compare authentic Acadiana crawfish to BR is absurd, since everyone actually cooking crawfish worth a flip in BR is from Acadiana or Nola. You've really done nothing to earn your eaux's and fleur de lis over there.
--The Delcambre Reeboks/hair gel crew is mostly from New Iberia and the nether regions of Acadiana. And they're almost all DIEHARD LSU FANS. In fact, it's well known that 99% of coonass trash that barely finished high school love LSU more than their parents, pick-ups or even Best Stop boudin balls. Hence the famous coonass cries of "LSYOOO BAWWW!" and "LES GOTSTA GO BRUH!"
--This is mostly because there are no t-shirt Louisiana fans, where the vast majority of LSU fans are t-shirt trash from all around the state.
Now, with all that out of the way, this Cajuns team isn't nearly as strong as it was last year, and LSU looks improved. Long shot for my boys to get 2/3, but hey, GEAUX CAJUNS.

What college football games are you attending or watching where crawfish are in season?
Made me laugh.
We've actually got great access to a lot of live crawfish over here at prices not much different than you're going to find in south La. I boil every weekend in season. The BBQ in Aggieland is suspect outside of Fargo's, but you'll find plenty of tailgaters with skills.
Gameday gumbo is where it's at if you're doing the Cajun thing. Hard to find any decent andouille in the B/CS, though.

He will always be beloved by Aggies though because the guy has balls the size of a house and he is a true Ag to the core. He was actually the President of A&M Galveston when they had Hurricane Rita and destroyed the campus and did such a great job in the aftermath that when they fired Elsa Murano they brought him in as Interim President.
:rotflmao:
Yeah, this isn't how it happened.

some of the fans are coon asses. The students are not.
Oh, but they are
Baton Rouge is redneck country. The coonasses are in Acadiana, and while there are a handful of them at LSU, they're a huge minority. If you're looking for flat tongues, loud aaaaaaiiiieeeeeees and good boudin, you're at ULL, Southeastern or Nicholls.
Though LSU certainly has a large contingent of high school dropouts from da Berry and Morgan City in their fanbase. You can recognize them when they shout the unofficial chant of the Tigers, "LSU be wile baw!"

I laughed at the autograph thing yesterday, but did not laugh at him walking past Sumlin.
Yes yes yes.
This entire narrative was already set up by the media. It's a pre-determined story, and was going to happen no matter what. But JFF doesn't have to make it worse. And Sumlin, despite a few harsh words, just doesn't look like he's in control.
Hopefully Sumlin can keep him on lockdown for just this one season and get the most out of him again. I just want the team to come out the better for his tenure, especially after all the antics. Then JFF can act the fool and fail miserably in the NFL all he wants

This really isn't that complicated.
I know. One is a football team and the other is a college.
(Sorry to bump the thread in the midst of all this glorious Ol' Miss whining and Clowney gassing, but I just saw this, dammit.)
And I do hate that LSYOUX BAW! OH AND BREESUS TOO!!! fans have chased off some of the Saints' coastal fans, that's just sad.
Nothing is worse than north Louisiana, though, where all the former bandwagon Cowboys fans are now bandwagon LSU fans.

Georgia. But only because I want the Falcons to suck and be overshadowed by the kids.
On the other hand, on the off chance that the Falcons make a deep playoff run, then I'd rather see Florida take it.

12. LSU. As always, it's these fans. Louisianans can brag about their culture all they like, but the fact is that their state is like an unofficial version of 1980s South Africa, albeit with better food.
Stopped reading there even though I had already read the whole thing before I got there
All of Magary's Louisiana hatred is rooted in the fact that he's a huge Vikings fan and feels that every single person in the Pelican state took a collective dump on his lawn after the 2010 NFCCG. Every now and then he'll slip up and admit it. Someone mentioned how he's in an even bigger rut than Simmons, and this couldn't be more true.

No it really isn't.The Fluer De Lis is a big thing in Louisiana and comes from our french culture. LSU has just as much a right to it as anyone else.
I realize you're not a native and that's fine but you're really talking out of your arse right now.
Born and raised in Louisiana. Not talking out of my arse at all. Lived in Lafayette, Shreveport and New Orleans. Have a brother at LSU. Only in Texas for school. I know exactly what I'm talking about, because I sure as hell didn't see any fleur de lis LSU stuff pre-Brees/BCS championships.

No that all went away when they got rid of the direction in their name. Didn't it?
They're certainly not the party school that they were ten or twelve years ago, and I hate downtown Laffy. But it still beats Tigerland and Northgate. (But so does does downtown Bryan).
Anyway, great to see all the Saints love in the SEC. I love my college teams because I was part of the college, but the Saints are in my blood.

I always thought it was funny how grand ULaLa fans feel their school is. They want their school to be perceived as a big time college program on the level of LSU. When they're actually probably the 4th best football program in LA.
Well at the same time, they've been more than competitive in baseball and other games in the past and I think it's more than just a sports thing. ULL perceives itself as the flagship of the UL system (to the chagrin of the rest of the UL system). Before that system got gutted through budget cuts over the past few years, the university really was on a mission, however futile, to be the other flagship school of the state. It's not just students--much of the ULL administration really hates LSU over decades of political shenanigans.
Also, on a more personal level, Cajuns and coonasses know that Baton Rouge just ain't one of us. City's got more in common with Shreveport than New Orleans or Acadiana.

ENORMOUS Saints fan here, much bigger than any of my college teams. I freaking HATE LSU and always have, more than any college team.
Also a Ragin' Cajun first. I think there are more LSU haters in Lafayette than anywhere else in the state.
Currently working on a grad degree at A&M. Adopted the team when the university started giving me a degree and paychecks and stuff.
I made this to troll my LSU fan pals (I can't freaking stand that ridiculous fleur des tigue crap) and also to troll Aggie Cowboys/Texans fans.

Not true.
That said, I think the NCAA is going to be a bit more careful than usual here because of who the player is and because of all the amped up heat they're already taking about amateurism here lately (the Ed O'Bannon suit, for instance).

The rational part of me says that nothing will happen but the irrational football fan in me can't help it. As an Aggie and a diehard Saints fan, I'm having Bountygate flashbacks. I remember all the downplaying on the message boards right after that story broke, and then... :yack:
There's no logical connection there whatsoever, but it's that same feeling in the pit of my stomach.
