Halftime adjustments killed Manziel somewhat this year.
Only against LSU and Florida. Much of the time Manziel spent at least 1/3rd of the second half on the bench in blowout wins.

The Auburn defense in 2010 were the KINGS of halftime adjustments.

Not really. You gave up 13.02 points in the first half on average and 11.05 in the second.
Seems like a lost of revisionist history on here about that team's greatness. It was Cam Newton, Nick Fairley and friends (with special guest appearences by Michael Dyer and Onterio Mccalebb).

this is the only thing that matters

Can newton can throw a ball farther than a damn soccer field and hit a nail right on the head

Yes as a matter of fact I watched them both live and in person and personally I believe Johnny Football is a better player
Here's the thing: It doesn't matter. Nothing Manziel has done or ever could do would make most here pick him over Cam.
Even if he goes 14-0 next year, wins the MNC and has better stats than Newton, Newton will always be better in the eyes of many because he did it first. Psychology shows that revisionist history causes people to always remember the "original" of anything as better, regardless of merit. Cam was the first QB like that to literally carry a team all by himself in the SEC. Tebow was a running spread QB as well, but he was on some of the most talented teams in the last 15-20 years.
Newton's legend has made him an untouchable figure that cannot be surpassed in the minds of many.

You're reading too much into the secr

Bama fans - could your team this year have beaten Cam's team?
quote:LOL, no, they barely beat the 3-9 Auburn team.
LSU fans - could your team this year have beaten Cams team?

Georgia fans could your team this year have beaten Cams team?
How retarded are you, dude?

What puts Newton over the top, especially over someone like Manziel is his physical dominance. At 6'6 250 with a rocket arm and accuracy, there was just no way to stop him as he was just physically and athletically superior to everybody. Also he's the #1 pick.

Auburn didn't experience much garbage time in 2010 given that 9 of their 14 games were within a single score at some point under ten minutes to go in the 4th.

I guess we should've punched that last one in from the 3 against LSU to help the stats.

They would put cam on defense for one series and take JM out of the game...

Manziel is a faster/shiftier open field runner and, statistically, a more accurate passer. He also played in a much more sophisticated passing offense that required more reads and more diverse routes. Cam Newton's passing was centered almost entirely around playaction go, post and corner routes. It worked because of Auburn's geat running game, but few players have ever had the luxury of throwing to wide open receivers that often.
Both player's have their merits. No doubt Cam is a more physically imposing player with gifts Manziel doesn't have, but Manziel does things he cant do as well.

Auburn didn't experience much garbage time
14-0 > 11-2
End of argument. Auburn would win.

Just intellectually lazy.
I'm not denying Auburn would likely win a close, game, but this silliness can have some major holes poked through it pretty quickly. For instance, would 2002 Ohio State beat 2010 Alabama? Unlikely.

Alabama 13-1
A&M 11-2
Who wins?
And this proves you can't judge a game based off record

I think cam is a huge flamer but would take him all day over JFF
