Without Cam Newton, Gene Chizik is 24-38 as a HC with a 3-19 record against top-25 teams.

Without Johnny Manziel, Sumlin is 35-17 as a HC with a 5-1 record against top-25 teams.

Are we really having this discussion?

to be blunt, i think you are way off base even suggesting this. chizik's record before comming to auburn was awful whereas sumlin had houston playing at a very high level. he, and the SEC, are responsible for the aggies being a cool place for a recruit as opposed to a shite school with shitty military traditions by guys that squeezed thedir testicles (while sherman was there). sumlin seems like the real deal to me and i agree with otheres that a shot at the NFL may be hard for him to pass up in a few years. i know it would be for me if i was in his shoes.

I honestly don't know what I think of Sumlin. His offense is amazing when he has the right qb to run it. The thing is, he seems to have relied on 1 player at both A&M and Houston. When Houston's quarterback got injured they were terrible.

I think A&M goes back to a mediocre team when Johnny leaves. Thoughts?

They are going to be mediocre alright, just like Bama and LSU.

Sumlin's the SECCOY. He's been a Bear Bryant COY finalist in 3 of his 5 years as HC.

In all but one year that he's been a HC, a D1 program has plucked one of his assistants to be its head man.

But it's not just college programs that can't wait to get a piece of the dude. The Philly Eagles offered him a job in December, and two other NFL teams sought to interview him.

There is only one coach hotter than Sumlin, and he's won 3 of the last 4 MNCs.

Let's hold steady against the urge to be tards here, fellas.

Sumlin teams always have good offenses. The qb's at Houston always put up good numbers, and obviously JFF did too. He has traditionally struggled against good defenses though.
