Hey! How goes it? Still busy the TX Legislature is in special session #2 down here but at this point I'm like f*ck it I'm out anyway, will be hanging out in Vegas with Eggs of Tigerboard Shack fame later on this week. Assuming I survive I will report back fo sho.

Yeah I have mentioned this site to Eggs, hopefully he will show up here eventually. But Memphis where he lives is kinda like a real-life Rant anyway it seems, huge conglomeration of SEC fans of every school and no one school really "owns" the city.
They are debating the same abortion crap on the House floor right now as I type its on my TV.
Thankfully don't have any clients involved in that crap but I did have to write an interim report on it back when I worked in the statehouse. I will say though, I've seen lots and lots of crazy sh*t down here but that filibuster and the finish to it was simply epic with the Senate gallery crowd shouting and clapping the last 15 minutes to drown out debate, run out the clock and kill the bill...real life mob voting!
I really think that in addition to a filibuster, as the clock on a session is winding down they should let Democrats foul Republicans and hope they miss free throws and vice versa. Senate majority leader makes a motion to adopt then suddenly kablam he takes a Derek Grimm-style elbow to the chops and has to shoot for it...I know Kimmie would support that! (and voila we're back on topic, see what I did there)

You're a lobbyist, right? Yeah, that was epic. I just have to laugh at every Republican that says they're for smaller government, then try to add more and more restrictions to abortion. They should just be honest and say they're for smaller government when it comes to business, defense and welfare, but as much government as it takes to eliminate the things they don't like, such as women's issues and immigration. (I'm strictly an independent, don't like either party well enough to be a member. It drives some people crazy that I won't pick a side.)

That's pretty much how I feel and how I think most actual voters feel - in fact even in Texas which thinks its so much of a red state, a slight majority of those polled in the state overall sided with Wendy Davis on that filibuster. The social issues they intrude on like this are just stupid and drive away the mainstream, I don't know why they think its better to polarize the state like that but in 20 years when its a Democrat majority state (*cough* Hispanic immigration *cough*) they may wish they had let the moderate middle and independents take the lead afterall...
