Both Harris and Cornwell seem to want to be the only QB in their classes.

Thus the domino effect.

FWIW, I don't think LSU is going to take two, but a lot of people do, which was why that Columbus elite 11 event was big. Kizer and Harris were both there, while Miles and Cameron watched on (due to their sons participating).

We wanted Kizer to come in and meet Harris a couple weekends ago but it didn't work out. I think the coaches were trying to vet the attitudes of both towards a 2 qb class.

Like I said, still skeptical we take two though.

@bharrisqb1: Thank you Texas A&M fans and coaches you were great!! LINK

Very classy kid. Breath of fresh air to see that kinda response. Wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up going.

Yeah, he will make it harder to hate LSU or Bama if he picks one and becomes the starter.

Well, Harris may be left out in the cold if he doesn't push his announcement to an earlier date. With Cornwell likely committing to the Gumps sometime this week and Kizer announcing the day before BH he may either be forced to accept that he will be coming into a class with another QB or commit to fricking Arky or Ole Miss.

Just think of how bad Jefferson would have been without our QB coaching. On second thought, don't. You'll pull a muscle laughing at the thought.

In all seriousness, if you're brandon harris, other than being the state school, what's the draw to LSU?... the last couple athletic QBs have been disappointments. Cameron's NFL experience is nice, but there's no guarantee that'll translate to college coaching.

Cameron's NFL experience is a draw until it's proven that it doesn't translate to college.

As far as the last couple athletic QBs, Perrilloux was on pace to succeed, his issues were off the field. Jefferson had severe entitlement and attitude problems. I don't think our QB coaches were any good, but I don't think anyone could have done any better with him.

But the other draw is that when you look at what happened to other schools that ran into the same type of QB issues we had, they'd win like 5 games (texas and FSU specifically), we were still competing for championships (in some years). The talent around them was so great that even a black hole at quarterback (from a talent and atitude stadpoint) was not enough to cripple the program.

ETA: The talent thing I said is a draw becase for a kid with a healthy ego is going to look at that and think he's the missing piece between LSU and a championship.

Had an Alabama fan said that in this thread, it would automatically add 10 pages.

ONly if certain Alabama fans said it. You ain't one of them.

But it is a legit question, so I tried to treat it as such.

Our coaches asked him if he was okay with 2 QB class and he said he was perfectly fine with it.

That's the draw, and not only that, but also having a ton of top WR targets to throw to and a running game to take all the pressure off you. It's really not hard to be an efficient QB at LSU, but with not having a real OC for several years in a row and our last QB coach dealing with a debilitating disease, we havent had the chance to properly develop a QB. We'll see what Cameron does with Mettenberger his second year starting here. Mettenberger certainly showed some flashes last year, just needs to put it all together. This year Mett will have a better OL protecting him, more good targets to throw to and still what should be a solid rushing attack.

New OC and what appears will be the best WR corp in the country. Not to mention the guarantee of a shot at a national championship every year.

Brandon Harris is a really talented young man who seems to really be mature and classy. He is leadership material.

I understand why he turned us down and wish him the very best wherever he goes!

Yes Harris was basically asked that on twitter yesterday and he said the reason he is no longer considering aTm is because they only wanted 1 QB in the class. I have also read he has no issue coming in with another QB.

B.Harris ?@bharrisqb1 12h
@BrentChu @BFeldmanCBS it's funny that you mention that, the deal is talent respects talent, and Texas A&M is only taking 1 quarterback

LSU's had good WRs, OLs, and backs over the last five years, but it's had little effect on the QB development.

We'll see how it plays out this season (and beyond)... I'm curious to see if mettenburger takes that step in his game and becomes an elite passer. If Cameron can't do it for a fourth year senior with solid experience, then you gotta question his abilities with the younger guys.
