SIAP, I did search.

quote:

The Southeastern Conference's basketball tournament is ready to settle down.

And Nashville, Tenn., could be home.

SEC commissioner Mike Slive says league athletic directors voted unanimously to "authorize the conference to explore a primary site for the men's basketball tournament." Slive stopped short of saying "permanent," but hinted that could change.

Slive said: "We've been very successful with our permanent site in football in Atlanta. We've been very successful in our permanent site in Hoover (Ala.) in terms of baseball, so the ADs felt it was time for us to explore the possibility of a primary site for the men's basketball tournament."

The basketball tournament has been played in Tampa, Fla., Nashville, Atlanta and New Orleans over the past five years. It is scheduled for Nashville in 2015, 2016 and 2019; 2017 and 2018 have not been finalized.

Personally, I like Nashville the best and would be more inclined to attend there. However, as a whole, I think the tournament would do best in Memphis.

As long as it's not played in a football stadium.

If he's not saying permanent, does that mean that the SEC tourney would still go to the Final Four location if it's in an SEC state?

Because I wouldn't mind going catch the SEC and Missouri Valley tournaments in STL on a year the Final Four is going there.

Please tell me we're not talking about Memorial Gym? Wait, could we be talking about Gaylord? Do they host basketball games there? I went to a concert there about a decade ago but cannot remember ever seeing a basketball game played there, although I suppose it could be used for that?

They need to move it to Birmingham. That seems like the site that would cause the least amount of controversy.

Move the Basketball tourney and SEC headquarters to Nashville and make it a done deal.

Not a fan. I like it rotating. That and I just frankly have no interest what so ever in going to Nashville.

It should be ATL for football, Nashville for basketball, and Memphis for baseball. Everyone wins.

Play it in Hoover, Dothan, Daphne, or Spanish Fort. Satisfies the random Alabama city test used for baseball.

The arena holds a little over 19k for basketball games. They'll probably also have something to do at the new convention center right behind the arena.

Most people won't realize that the court will be placed over a sheet of ice.

That's the only down I have personally, a week without a Preds game.
