He also wants to play two out of Vandy, Kentucky, and Mizzou every year to ensure Bama has a tough SOS

9 game is a reality - you can bet that was mentioned with the SEC network discussions and more inventory for the SEC network.

Good for him. Obviously for the big boys, they'd rather make it more fair.

I'm sure our coaches are against it but personally I would be for it. It means that you would have to win 3 conference games to get to a bowl but I think bowls are too easy to get to anyway.

Anyone who doesnt see the need to add an extra conference game is really, really playing stupid. Everyone else has done it or is doing it.

Les has been talking about it on his Tiger Tour's for two weeks now.

That would mean a 13 game schedule with nothing but SEC teams on your schedule.

I don't like the 9 game suggestion because it is unequal every year. Every year half of the teams will have an unequal number of home/road games.

I know I'm supposed to officially hate the short little Napoleon but I salute Saban for supporting the best path forward.

And just say no to more expansion. 2 rotating cross division games plus a permanent cross division is the way to go.

Meanwhile, we've got a giant vagina in Nashville...

Vanderbilt's James Franklin described himself as a "huge believer" in keeping it at eight games. His reasoning is that it allows more flexibility for programs like his that are trying to rebuild, as well as the powerhouses trying to build up their playoff resume'.

I'm sure the SEC scheduling guys will simplify things and give Ala. permanent East opponents: TN, KY, and Vandy, and give LSU UGA, FL and SC. Makes sense.

Love it or hate it, it's coming.

Given a 14 (or more) team league it's the only thing that makes sense.

All the other major conferences are also going to a 9 game schedule.

I am for it, we have enough cream puff tomato can games on the schedule already. We can live without Alabama vs. Georgia State or Florida vs. The Citadel, etc.

It will make it harder to go undefeated, but with the new 4 game playoff, going undefeated is no longer nearly as important as it once was.
