If it's a student journalist like I heard, why would said journalist not omit Blue's comment?
Not that far in his degree yet.

Probably because it would mean that he's not doing his assignment

Blue's comments are common if not the norm on football teams. I'm not saying they are defensible but there's a reason gay men don't come out of the closet if they are on college or NFL football teams.

First of all, gender identity has nothing to do with sexuality. People really shouldn't lump those two together because they are completely separate aspects.
Second, I just don't believe people can be born as a male in a female body or vice versa. It just doesn't make biological/genetic sense. I think it's purely psychological. So, yes, I do believe in a gay gene.

They aren't really in the habit of making players unavailable to the student newspaper.
I think Saban bans all freshmen from speaking to all media. I would assume that covers the student newspaper, as well. Doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to regulate if they wanted to.

You're probably right, but you think that they could find better representatives to articulate that stand point as opposed to that shite bomb Blue just dropped.

Good for him. He doesn't coach at LSU though, so that's pretty irrelevant.
And Blue is not a freshman.

I don't give a shite about gay people
I'm tired of hearing about gay people
It's not the focal point of my existence for them to be liked more.

Missed my point completely. I'm talking about access to the media for dumbasses on your team or anyone else's.

By dumbass you mean he disagrees with your sentiment?

then there would be no story.
the reporter made a point of reporting Blue's comments even though he/she noted they were a minority point of view on the team. i don't really have a problem with them doing that FWIW - clearly there's not a lot of tolerance for gay teammates in a football world. if they don't quote guys who say things like Blue said then there's no explanation for why people don't come out of the closet if they are gay.

He's a dumbass for having an unpopular belief. OK.
This intolerance will not be tolerated.

The story came out of the closet.
Whether you like the story or not, IMHO this is the kind of reporting I would expect from a student newspaper.
Hopefully journalists at other student newspapers across the SEC ask similar questions.
Not saying I'm eager to see openly gay players on the field, but I like to see an engaged press.
However, the reporter really missed a chance to ask Miles and the players if they like gladiator games or wanted to see the inside of the cockpit. For that reason, the story leaves me a smidge disappointed.

No. Failure to articulate an opposing viewpoint without coming across completely ignorant.

This is not the place to get into this debate, but that view is very closed minded.
