I'm really high on Adams style of play. I'm really looking foward to following this kid the next 3 years. Does anyone here think he could be better than Nick Fairley? They both dominated in HS but who will be the better tiger of the two?

Not to contradict part of your thesis, but wasn't Fairley a 3 star recruit out of hs?

I had high hopes for Jeff Whitaker and Gabe Wright.. They haven't produced at all.. If Adams can cause half the disruption Fairley did, I'll be happy.

I'm thinking Toby Johnson gets closer to Nick Fairley than Monty Adams. And yes... that takes into account that Johnson will be in a 3-4 half of the time.

At this point, though... players are aspiring to be the wrecking ball in college that Fairley was.

Nick Fairley wasn't as highly regarded out of HS, he was a DT/TE who was expected to play Guard. Bama tried to flip him the 2nd time around by request of James Willis.

Fairley had little expectations and exceeded them, Gabe Wright and Monty Adam have huge expectations and have to live up to them.

Adams has some growing up to do before we start talking about him getting to Fairley's level. Adams has all the potential in the world but needs to learn to bring it on every down in order to really live up to expectations. His competition in HS was also suspect at best, so there will be an adjustment period there.

I think Adams' impact will really be seen starting during his sophomore season, and he'll really come into his own as a junior.

Also, Fairley is a thug POS, so maybe Adams should strive to be like someone else. I had to say it.

Adams may have a better overall career if he can produce for three years but Fairley's season in 2010 was the most dominant season I've seen from an interior lineman in the SEC in the last 15 or so years.
