I got a pair of ostritch skin boots from cavenders about 3-1/2 years ago... absolutely love em. look good and comfortable as hell.
i've also owned pairs of georgia, justin, and ariat work boots... ariats are by far the most comfortable work boot i've owned... they've definitely got my business.
ETA: and ariat makes some damn good button-down collared work shirts.

Contractors make more money than you and wear work boots.

I've worn my Ariat westerns for 2 years and I love them. Theyre still in good shape. They could use a shine but thats about it.

I have some Ariat work boots, they make a nice pair. Also have two pairs of Lucchese's, one in black snake skin and the other brown leather (those are the ones I wear all the time). I eventually plan on getting a pair from this shop in Fort Worth, they made some pretty nice custom Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo boots that I would love to own.
I think the shop was Leddy's. They make some nice boots.

I know Mr. Cavender quite well. Him and Grandfather are good friends, both Pittsburgh Texas natives. The original Cavenders is a hole in the wall.

That's pretty cool, Galvo

Yeah he is pretty old now but he still remembers me half the time . My Grandfather, Mr. Cavender and Carroll Shelby used to go to Vegas every year for the rodeo and raced Shelby Mustangs while they were there. Pretty crazy that Cavenders, Shelby Mustangs and Pilgrims Pride all came from little Pittsburgh Texas.

pretty cool. I lived across the street from a cavenders in longview, not too far from pittsburgh, IIRC. Spent some money in that place...

I no longer allow myself to go to a Cavender's without wifey in tow to curb my spending

You really can spend a ton at that place without even knowing. I like it the most out of the chain western stores, Baskins is pretty good as well. A little cheaper but not as much stuff on the high end.

I have a couple pair made by Charlie Dunn best boots i've ever owned. There is no way to get these anymore but Capitol Saddlery still makes excellent handmade boots.

Baskin's is nice. Better store for just browsing selections in, tbh (because of the pricing )

Oh I totally agree, still doesn't change the fact that the man is filthy rich. What really did them in was that big arse plant in Mount Pleasant, that bust of him by the highway is pretty ridiculous.

Anyone here own a pair of custom made cowboy boots? I'm thinking about buying a pair but wondering if they are really worth the money.
There are several boot makers in TX I've been looking at for some exotic skins like ostrich or gator. Anybody have anyone they would recommend?

buy the ostrich or gator
buy heritage boots

Yes they do. I went by their shop in Abilene. Let's just say they are VERY proud of the work they do.
