I think we have to figure out what it is he has to live down first.

Clearly, it's better for his image to be a poor gullible person who was targeted by an internet scam and embellished a relationship that had perfect timing to coincide with a storybook ending to a perfect football game against Michigan State and perfect regular season. But it's still embarrassing.

The alternative, which is that he made up a story and fake killed an imaginary person off so that he would get lots of press and win awards and maybe get a Rudy movie is a little more icky.

If the entire thing was a scam and he was actually retarded enough to fall for it, why would they kill his girlfriend off? I just don't see the point. I really don't.

If by "it" you mean Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, than sure.

I just watched the pc on this so it's probably already been discussed, but after the gf died she contacted Manti and informed him that she didn't die and they tried to resume the relationship?

At least we get to see the national media try to ignore what they helped create

Woah, I had not seen that before. Absolutely none of the stuff surrounding her fake death makes any sense.

Having America discover your gf was fake? I'm sure he'll stop being the butt of jokes soon (if you define soon as never).

I'm sure that he would catch hell in the NFL on a daily basis.

How embarrassing...

I don't think we've discussed it, but I saw that he got a random phone call after it had happened and the girl said it was a hoax. I didn't see that they tried to start it up again. Apparently that phone call is when he found out it was all fake.

It appears that Manti's girlfriend hob-nobbed with celebrities in California:

Some poor intern is going to be blackballed for not googling the fake girlfriend.

It's not like the guy is Forest Gump, or some introverted computer programmer who lives in his parents' basement. You would have to have something wrong with you to be a nationally recognized linebacker at a major university and be bamboozled by a fake internet girl.
