If OSU wasn't on a bowl ban, they would have choked.

Don't tell 2007 LSU that.

Ummm no he wouldn't be you dumbass. They could have decided to not go to a bowl after their 6-6 season a year ago after they fired Tressel. My thread may be shitty but so are weak arse flame attempts because you are just making yourself look like a jack arse

Exactly, because Tressel would still be there.

Occam's razor (also written as Ockham's razor, Latin lex parsimoniae) is a principle of parsimony, economy, or succinctness. It states that among competing hypotheses, the one that makes the fewest assumptions should be selected.

If they weren't on postseason ban, it stands to reason that they either weren't caught or the penalty was a slap on the wrist.

Either way, Tressel would still be there.

Your retort -- and your thread -- are both incredibly dull.

Fair is fair: if Alabama can complete a clutch drive in the IB the next year, do they fourpeat?

As someone has already stated, probably not since they already had two losses. I was merely highlighting the absurdity of these "what if" games.

Agreed, and I was further underscoring it.

This whole thread and all threads like it are fricking stupid.

Oh yeah.

If Ohio State was eligible for postseason, Tressel would still be there, and they'd still be the same old mediocre tOSU they've been since fricking 2002, so every one of these "WUT IF OHIGHO STATE IS NOT ON PROBATION??????" threads fricking suck, as do the people who make them.

Just sayin'.

OSU CHOSE to be ineligible this year. They CHOSE to play Florida in the Gator Bowl last year and take the post season ban this year. If they sit out last year they would've been in Miami this year.

Ohio states best opponent was michigan which bama blew out. What's to say they wouldn't choke in the big 10 championship game?

There's no way they could've choked harder than Nebraska did.

Saw an interview with "BCS expert" Brad Edwards after the regular season. He said Ohio State would have been 3rd in BCS rankings - and well behind Bama.

Well, OSU wasn't even in the Harris or Coaches, so there's no way of knowing. If those would have been like the AP, then yes, but perhaps not. Also, you have to keep in mind that it's likely many AP voters either knowingly or even sub-consciously had OSU ranked lower on their ballot because they were ineligible than they would have otherwise.

No. Alabama has been incredibly fortuitous in this little dynasty.

Colt McCoy got hurt in 2009

Ok st missed a fg by 6 inches letting them into an unprecedented rematch after losing the game of the century at home

Ohio st not being eligible after once again blowing a game at home.

Also, during this time having by far the easiest schedule in the SEC.

Yes, they have been good, but they have also been very, very lucky.

Does a 12-1 Bama team get into the title game over a 12-0 ND or a likely 13-0 OSU team in a weak Big 10? Not a flame just wondering yalls thoughts if OSU had taken a bowl ban last year instead of this season would Bama have gotten into the game over them?

Good question OP - and probably not, although the media and computers do have some respect for the SEC, I believe they would have made it a close shave one way or the other.

The better question is: if Alabama doesn't lose to LSU at home in 2011, do they make it to the BCSNCG that year?

I've always loved how this is worded.

The guy didn't trip in the locker room before the game, he had his shoulder shoved in by Dareus.

And you all should be glad that Dooley and the Vols can't count.
