BS. Bear would've won more in this format. Probably would've gotten to play Texas and Earl Campbell instead of a #5 Notre Dame.
Something else. Under BCS format, Lou wouldn't have his title. He would've had to replay Miami and they would've kicked his arse in the rematch. That was not a team you wanted angry and motivated to beat you.

Serious questin....How do you truly know how good of a coach he is when his teams talent outmatches the opposition every time.
Think about this for a second. The teams that have beaten Bama over the past 3 years have what in common?
LSU's talent is comparable to Bama's. They beat Bama in 2010 with what many would call a handicap coach in Miles. Later that season Bama ran up against another team with comparable talent that season.....Auburn. What happened.
The next season Bama's only loss again was to a team with comparable talent in LSU.
Think about this season. Bama's 3 tough games....LSU came down to the wire....comparable talent, aTm beat Bama with NFL talent on O and D lines, UGA in the conference championship with comparable talent.
All I'm trying to say is that he's average at best even in college when he's matched up against teams that are as talented as his. Which just happened to be the same story for him in the pros. He was an average at best NFL coach because his team was equally talented to the majority of the league. I'll say it again....the NFL will expose you as a head coach if you not good enough.

Nobody can deny that championship teams have to catch a break. This is true 99% of the time.
But you do realize, don't you, that your original argument is "Saban benefitted from a system that allows the top teams to play each other, rather than avoid each other"? Not exactly a case against his success.

Saban is the best college coach in my lifetime. (and i'm old enough to have watched the Bear)...Yes, Alabama had all the ingredients (tradition, fans, $$) to build a great program when Nick arrived, but Shula left the program in pretty bad shape.
Also, FSU, Miami, OU, SCal, UTx, UTn, etc.) all have the same ingredients as Bama but can't produce the same results. And yes, LSU should be included too, but Saban already proved that LSU is a HC away from the BCS Championship. Just imagine what he would have done if he stayed in Baton Rouge.

I'm sure everyone will consider it, or not.

Is Nick Saban the only coach being allowed to benefit from this BCS system of which you speak?

Without the BCS format in 2009 Texas would have likely played in the Fiesta while Bama would have played in the Sugar. If both would have won their bowl games which would have been likely we would have probably has a split national championship.
That would NOT have been a split title. Most people in the media believed Alabama to be the better of the two teams. If both teams would have won their bowl games, Alabama would have been voted #1 in both polls.

8-1 in championship games. Haters gonna hate.

Just because they have the stars doesn't mean they will work out for you. Don't believe me? Just ask Auburn. It takes COACHING to develop that talent and sustain success. Saban has obviously shown he can do that.

I'm convinced that 06 LSU would've gone undefeated with him instead of Miles.

'05 LSU could have made a run for it too with Saban at the helm. 2005-2007 LSU were among the most talented college football teams I have ever seen. It's incredible to me that each of those teams garnered 2 losses.

The system is what it is and they won it via the current system.

I kinda agree with this. Why didn't he win it all at Michigan State? How good is Saban at coaching up a roster full of 3 stars?
It's easy to coach the Yankees/Bama/LSU/.
