Spurrier single handidly took two perrenial cellar dwellars into national relevance.
Florida was already on the rise when Spurrier got there if that is who you are referring to.

I have a friend who played for Spurrier. He suggested my friend not spend so much time studying for classes. When he said he had to devote that much time to studying to stay in school Spurrier sent him out of his office and then his playing time dried up.
What does that have to do with anything? No one here cares about academics. I'm sure people have heard the same stories about Saban too.

Just supposed to meet up at the game. I'm doing the charter bus thing so I'll just be there for the game.

Maybe your friend just sucked at the sport of football or was too dumb to keep to study for school and learn his assignments at the same time.

Imagined if Spurrier went to 'Bama after his run at UF and imagine where they'd be.
He wouldn't be on the verge of winning three national championships in four years, that's for sure. He didn't come close to accomplishing that at Florida with a much weaker SEC to work with.

This + Saban's NC at LSU
4 titles
That is elite category.

Yeah…people really need to put what Spurrier did at Florida into context. Sure….he brought in a totally new offensive philosophy and he won 6 conference championships during his tenure there. However, the SEC of the 1990s was far weaker than what it is today. There was Florida, there was Tennessee, and to a lesser extent there was Alabama. That was it. Those three teams were the only teams to win conference championships that decade.
Auburn was crippled by sanctions, LSU was going through the worst period in its history, Arkansas was mediocre, the Mississippi schools were okay, Vanderbilt was terrible, South Carolina was terrible, Kentucky was terrible, and Georgia was mediocre.

Spurrier is a better coach.

Well LSU is coached by Les Miles, UT is worse than they have ever been, Auburn has been coached by Gene Chizik, and Arkansas's coach was too busy banging his subordinates and saban still only has 2 SEC titles in in six years at alabama.

Lets see he has 3 superbowl rings..so dosent matter lol

yes, but slaying puss doesn't prohibit a man from 10 win seasons as he proved.
so wtf was your point of that post? I think it's pretty obvious to everyone that todays SEC>>>90's SEC

In their current iterations:
Process > Hilarious in every press situation.
Vintage Spurrier and Current Saban is much closer. Think what TOBC's résumé could look like if vintage Spurrier didn't have a date with perennial top 3 FSU every year and the BCS.

It's not the same and you know it.
With this last batch of hires, every single coach in the SEC west except for Mullen and four of the seven coaches in the east have at least one FBS conference championship on their resume. The conference has 8 national title game appearances in the last 7 years and if Bama wins on Monday, the conference will have won 9 of the 15 BCS title games.
The SEC of the 1990s wasn't the Sun Belt, but it in no way compares to the league in the 21st century.

Only a testament to the brilliance of Cam Newton and Tommy Tuberville's outstanding recruiting on the OL/DL.

so wtf was your point of that post?
To show how easy it is to make excuses like the post I was responding to. alabama's three top rivals are/were coached by three complete clowns for the last 3-4 years.

True, but those Florida teams were better than these alabama teams. 09 and 11 were on par with some of those teams 08, 10, and this year would be dusted by mid 90s Spurrier.
