quote:OK, what's your point? Pretty sure this is what a lot of recruits do.
Before Garner was hired Auburn fans were saying Lawson was waiting to see who was hired.
quote:I'm not sure what this sentence means.
Once the guy hired to most doesnt seem like it would help chances now it doesnt matter who the DL coach is...
quote:We're in denial of what?
I think some Auburn fans are in denial
quote:I'm sorry there are fans that view the hiring of a coach as something that is the more vital move for a team. Auburn hired someone that can recruit the hell out of Georgia, which happens to be a recruiting hotbed. Would I love for Auburn to keep Carl Lawson? Sure. Will it make or break Auburn? No.
Showing no concern at all.
quote:From what new coach? Rodney Garner? Gus Malzahn? Carl Lawson has talked to and loves Gus Malzahn. Rodney Garner hasn't talked to him because all recruits and coaches are in a Dead Period.
The guy didnt answer calls from the new coach
quote:It wasn't his final decision at Georgia, and Carl Lawson isn't a 34 defensive end. Not sure why that matters.
wasnt offered by the DL coach that was just hired until later in the process
quote:It isn't the first time, so...
and now when asked about his committment he says "no comment".
quote:Who said everything was OK?
But everything is ok???

My only question is, why hasn't he flipped yet? Is he waiting until NSD 2013?
The term "tactical edge" has been dropped.
What that truly means? You got me.

I don't think Liner is "trolling" anyone. He's committed to Auburn and he hasn't backed off that commitment.
I think too much was made about his visits to watch Alabama play quality opponents. Hell, if I could get free tickets to premium games for free, I would do it.
Like I said, I think he sticks with Auburn.

Maybe him flipping at the last moment would hurt Auburn's chances with quality replacements and leave us out to dry with the big-time players we're still in play for. It could also leave a spot open in the class if we couldn't find a replacement worthy of actually having a spot. It's a smart move, and something like what happened with TJ Yeldon last recruiting cycle.

Lawson is waiting for Nkemdichie to commit to us before he flips to us. Look for it to happen at the UA AA game.

With Auburn putting together a new staff, Lawson said he thinks Tigers defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson and assistant head coach/defensive line coach Rodney Garner will be handling his recruitment. Garner left Georgia for Auburn last week. The Bulldogs were not a program Lawson ever strongly considered. The question on the minds of many is this: Will Garner's hiring at Auburn have an impact on Lawson's recruitment.
"No," Lawson said when the subject came up. "Why would it? They wanted to hire a coach that was experienced. Auburn, as a program, even after losing seasons, is always going to bounce back. I have complete faith in what coaches they bring in. That's not really a problem."

I dont really think we disagree on anything. I'm just pointing out that there is reason for concern. I'm sure Lawson loves Auburn which is why he committed there. I just think some of the Auburn fans have a overly optomistic view on where he stands with them.

Revaluating your commitment = not committed

Not sure how they would spin that fact that Gardner came to Milton high school with a buzz and ignored Lawson, not offering him a scholorship until recently. But now its all good and he will be his coach?
I have a hard time believing Lawson senior would let that happen. The only good news Auburn can hope for is that Lawson Sr allowed Gardner in his house which was something he was not sure he would allow a couple of days ago.
I am not one to predict anything, but TN appears to be his best choice of the schools he likes right now.
Here is what Lawson's trainer posted on VolQuest tonight.

Lawson would not have played DL for Garner at UGA.

I like our chances regardless

What weekend is he visiting Oxford?

1/28. The same day as a ton of elite talent. It's the biggest visit weekend we've ever had honestly.

Love this Ole Miss optimism with Lawson. Good luck

The coaches seem to think they've got a fantastic shot with him. His recruitment should be fun to watch.

it is hilarious watching fans try to make something out of the relationship with Garner and Lawson. At the end of the day, Garner did what he was told to do, when it came to Carl Lawson, nothing more, nothing less. If Lawson can't get over the fact that Garner was told not to recruit Lawson, well then he can deal with that on his own. At the end of the day, Garner will not make or brake the commitment of Lawson. End of story.

All Garner has to say is, "We evaluated you as an OLB in the 3-4. Grantham was the one evaluating you and not offering you". Whether it's true or not, there's an explanation.
I think Lawson sticks around, unlike Liner. Lawson wants everything to work out with AU, and is giving them the chance to do so. It's going to be a mad dash to the finish, but AU has the upper hand and will keep it IMO
